1. PURPOSE: Provide minimum technical information to support the required GCSS- Army component enabling hardware information and specifications for procurement.
2. BACKGROUND:
a. GCSS-Army managed client systems employ Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) enabling hardware components. Not all COTS brands and/or models will support effective GCSS-Army operations. This document identifies the minimum required specifications of the designated GCSS-Army enabling hardware components. GCSS- Army evaluated several COTS computers available through Computer Hardware Enterprise Software and Solutions System (CHESS) to support this document.
b. The HQDA DCS G-4 Tactical Enterprise Logistics Systems (TELS) program established a supply-based Life Cycle Sustainment (LCS) program for previously centrally managed hardware components for GCSS-Army. Under TELS, tactical commands and installation activities (Units or Commands) will initiate their own individual procurement actions for these enabling hardware items via already competed contracts available under Product Directorate, Computer Hardware Enterprise Software and Solutions (PD CHESS). This enabling hardware will be funded by the Unit in accordance with HQDA G4.
