Question Response
1 The spec does not include the contractor moving or relocating any furniture or equipment. Please confirm that DEA's vendors will do this work.
Do not include in your quote. Some items may require the GC to remove and if so will be added via modifcation after award.
Can DEA confirm the security clearance/background check requirements for access to the space? If contractors have an HSPD12 badge, do they need to undergo a background check? What about contractors who will be onsite under escort without a badge?
In addition to HSPD 12 requirements, DEA will need the names in advance of the contractors onsite who do not have badges.
3 Will DEA be requiring and providing an escort for the workers in the Lab? DEA will maintain a spreadsheet to track contractor floor access. Note that for afterhours demo DEA will not be able escort contractors off of the floor space to dumpsters etc.
4 How would the escorting be handled for the vault demo if it is after hours? DEA would provide escorts subject to the prior response.
6 The DEA security system attachment assumes that DEA is procuring the system, but that is not the case, right? It is part of the GC's work?
Yes. The contractor should provide everything. We have the following note on our drawing, sheet E300A sheet note #4:
PROVIDE A FUNCTIONALLY COMPLETE EXTENSION OF THE
EXISTING SECURITY (ACCESS CARD AND INTRUSION) SYSTEM.
PROVIDE ALL LABOR AND MATERIALS INCLUDING BUT NOT
LIMITED TO ALL RACEWAYS, WIRINGS, INTERFACES/MODULES,
HARDWARE AND SOFTWARES, ACCESSORIES, ETC TO

REQUIRED. NEW DEVICES SHALL MATCH THE EXISTING SYSTEM
IN ALL ASPECTS.he lab is using C-Cure 9000 for the access control system.
They are also on Milestone for their CCTV system. Both these systems are connected to the HQ enterprise systems.
I do not know what they are using for intrusion detection (IDS), but it should be tied to the FPS Megacenter.
The GC/security vendor should conduct a walkthrough of the existing security systems so they can ensure there is enough space on the panels for anything new and these items can be tied in correctly.
Security wise we are only adding a camera viewing the vault emergency exit and then on the same door we are adding BMS and a motion sensor (on the secure side), right?
7 Do we know whether the camera is included The camera should be part of the GC's number, yes.
8 I cannot find anything on the Photometrics-dwgs E100PA thru E100PD can u verify if they were included in the files? Photometrics drawings are in Volume III
RFP Questions for 10 56 13 Metal Storage Shelving --- 9 Is typical adjustable 4-post file/storage shelving desired? For the fixed shelving, yes.
Is this a storage application (3D storage, boxes, evidence, etc.), end tab filing application (folders/records) or both? If both – which area(s) are record filing and which area(s) are material 3D storage (boxes, evidence, etc.)? 3. What is the overall desired/required shelving height?
Boxes. The high density storage and fixed storage between it and the columns should be 5 high with 18" between shelves, and the rest of the fixed storage should be 4 high with 26" between the bottom shelves and 13" on the top shelf. Fixed shelving should be adjustable in case of future needs changing.
11 How many storage levels/openings (i.e., 6 shelves including a top/5 openings, etc.)? See answer above
2.2 A 5 Are back panels required and if so, where? On the units that run along a wall? Between double access ranges to create a barrier between access sides? If full metal backs on some ranges – does that eliminate ‘back ledges’ #4 under B. Accessories?
Back panels are not required.
B. Accessories #1 Shelf Dividers: If static metal shelving is for 3D storage (boxes, evidence, etc.)
are dividers necessary? 7. B. Accessories #1 Shelf Dividers: Install as directed. Q: file divider (not full height & adjustable) or bin divider (full height & fixed)?
Dividers are not required.
14 B. Accessories #1 Shelf Dividers – how many dividers per shelf level/side? Dividers are not required.

Please advise if this expensive supplemental aisle lighting is required and if so – please provide the number of lights (frequency) for each of the nine (9) mobile system aisles?
Yes, attached lighting is to be part of the bid. Each row has either 5 or 6 lights, see included drawing for more information [43 lights total]
21 2.4 H Four-Post Shelving What is the overall shelving height not including rail/carriage? How many storage levels/openings (i.e., 6 shelves including a top/5 openings, etc.)? See answer above
22 What is the estimated overall system height – rail, carriage & shelving – combined? Fixed storage is 98 3/4", High density is 104 1/4".
23 Would GSA/DEA like professional mobile industry assistance removing the existing system and prepping for relocation (skidding, shrink wrapped etc.)? No. The system may be taken apart and disposed of.

30 Please verify top mount carriages for the high density shelving units are unacceptable. It is acceptable, but not preferred.
31 Please confirm safety sweeps are required for both sides of each carriage for the high density storage system, and that once engaged, carriages will immediately stop rolling. Safety sweeps are required.
Please confirm design of the high density storage system shall provide for a “synchronized drive system” which prevents carriage whipping, binding and excessive wheel/rail wear under normal operation.
Yes, this is required.
33 As part of the high density storage system design, confirm shafts shall be solid steel rod or tube; due to length and width of carriages, line shaft driven carriages are unacceptable. Yes, line shaft is unacceptable, synchronized drive is required.
Please confirm shelf supports for the high density storage system shall be formed from 11-guage steel with four solid steel shoulder rivets, two per ear, that interlock with inner wall of uprights.

Hard-Wired Method
Locate a customer-supplied 4" x 4" junction box near the front of the system and 6" above the top of the shelving. Power supplied to this junction box should be on a dedicated/isolated 120 VAC, 60 Hz, 20-amp circuit, including a dedicated/isolated ground wire to the distribution source. ½" rigid or flexible metallic conduit is required to connect between the customer supplied junction box and the Spacesaver-supplied disconnect/breaker box. The disconnect/breaker box must be secured and grounded to a metal shelving top of the Spacesaver system. The box cover must be screwed in place and the star washers must be used to assure a positive ground connection between box and cover. If needed, two adjoining modules may be connected to one 4" x 4" junction box, if the junction box provides a minimum of two separate circuits.
