Bullard full-brim wildland fire helmets and Bullard ear and neck protectors are the industry standard for wildland firefighting and DOF keeps replacement parts in stock for these specific makes / models so that they may be repaired or replaced as needed. A like equivalent would pose a hazard to health and safety because of the inability to immediately replace broken parts and because it would create a need to cross train staff to use new equipment.
