About this file
This document is a Questions & Answers (Q&A) document for Project 23-13, a restoration project for the AME Church in Phase 2, issued by the City of Cape May, New Jersey. The Q&A addresses a specific inquiry regarding historical restoration requirements, specifically focusing on contractor registration with the U.S. Department of Interior for historical properties and the New Jersey DPMC classification C024.
The document clarifies that contractors must conform to U.S. Department of Interior standards for historical properties. The city requires contractors to be registered with either the U.S. Department of Interior as a historical restoration contractor or with NJ DPMC as C024. Notably, the city will consider contractors who are not currently registered but can obtain registration within 3 months of the contract award. This approach provides flexibility for potential bidders while maintaining the project's strict historical preservation standards, which are critical given the AME Church's status as a key contributing structure in Cape May's Historic District.
