1. The van trailer is listed as 35'. This is a non-standard van trailer length but 53' is a standard length.

I just wanted to confirm that this was not a misprint.

ANSWER: 40 FT MAXIMUM.

2. Am I correct in assuming that you will be feeding liquefied propane into the trailer, which will pass through the vaporizer, and then to the boiler?

ANSWER: YES.

a. Will the vaporized propane need to feed any other equipment besides the portable boiler system?

ANSWER: NO

b. IE Do you want a vaporized propane connection on the exterior of the trailer?

ANSWER: YES

3. Do you know what percentage of condensate return will be coming back to the trailer?

ANSWER: RETURN CONDENSATE NOT REQUIRED.

4. Do you know what pressure the boiler itself will operate at? This is necessary to correctly size the Spirax Sarco steam valve for pre-heating the feedwater.

ANSWER: YES. 10 PSI TO 125 PSI.

5. I noticed that a water softener was not included in the specification. A water softener is normally considered necessary to prevent the boiler from being fouled. Is this something you would be interested in?

ANSWER: NO, A WATER SOFTENER IS NOT REQUIRED.

6. Are they any emissions/NOx limitations that the burner will need to adhere to?

ANSWER: EMMISSIONS AND NOISE LIMITATIONS ARE TO BE BASED ON FACTORY

RECOMMENDATIONS.

7. Would you consider an ISO shipping container mounted to a chassis rather than a van trailer? This would result in a higher quality unit for NAVFAC due to structural limitations of van trailers. It would also present better lashing options for protection against seismic disturbances.

ANSWER: NO, PLEASE PROVIDE TRAILER AS SPECIFIED.

8. Will you require a technician to visit NAVFAC for training and/or commissioning?

ANSWER: CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE FOR OPERATIONAL TESTING AT DESTINATION.

9. The specification calls for an Apache Model 8-5-400-S150 boiler with a Powerflame burner. It does not state or equal as it does on some of the other equipment. Does that mean than we cannot bid a similar boiler from another manufacturer with the same specifications as this boiler or is it required that we bid this boiler only?

ANSWER: “OR EQUAL” WAS INADVERTENTLY OMITTED. PLEASE SEE REVISED SALIENT

CHARACTERISTICS.
