About this file
This document is a technical specification and requirements guide for sidewalk construction work in Portland, Oregon, outlining standards that must be met by contractors performing work for the City of Mabley under Department of Transportation (DOT) specifications.
The specification details the construction of 5-inch thick portland cement concrete sidewalks and accessibility ramps on prepared subgrades, with materials and methods requirements including a 4-inch compacted aggregate base, minimum 2-inch thick side forms, and broom-finished concrete surfaces. Concrete panels must be between 4 and 6 feet in length (typical 5-foot by 5-foot configuration) with proper jointing, expansion joints of specified thickness between sidewalks and structures, and ADA-compliant curb ramps with detectable warning surfaces of truncated domes. Materials specifications require IDOT State-approved PV/SI concrete mix and CA 6 or CA 10 gradation aggregate subbase material. The work requires completion of each phase before proceeding to the next phase unless otherwise approved by Mabley staff, with finishing work including membrane curing compound application, topsoil restoration, and lawn seed and fertilizer placement in disturbed areas. The specification permits flexibility in concrete spray cure types and lawn seed and fertilizer selections.
