About this file

This is a Question & Answer document issued by the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) in response to bidder inquiries regarding Invitation for Bid (IFB) 160967 for Polyurethane Culvert Grout Pumping services. The project involves full-length backgrouting of a culvert pipe with polyurethane grout to address deterioration issues, specifically holes in the flow line measuring up to 4 inches long by 4 inches wide at various locations. The estimated material quantity for bid purposes is 200 pounds, though this figure is not based on calculated voids but rather serves as a basis for pricing. Bids are due on May 28, 2026, at 10:00 AM. No site visit or bidders conference is mentioned in this Q&A document. VDOT will be responsible for dewatering the work area and closing the roadway, eliminating the need for contractor-provided traffic control or laydown areas.

The contractor will not be responsible for dewatering, flow diversion, or traffic control, as VDOT will manage these aspects. Inspection reports and detailed pipe condition photographs are not available to bidders, though the Q&A response indicates the specific defect locations and dimensions. The document does not address pricing terms, set-asides, contract duration, renewal options, funding sources, or award dates. Additional specification details are referenced in Section IV of the project specifications document.
