50A.4 Co-Pay for Services
DOC has established co-pays for inmates seeking inmate-initiated services, which shall be assessed at the point of service. Inmates shall be provided the services regardless of whether they have the means in their inmate accounts to satisfy the assessment. The purpose of this policy is to encourage responsible use of Health Care Services by inmates to improve the quality of the services rendered. DOC collects fees appropriately assessed by Health Care Services staff pursuant to policy. All co-pays collected shall be deposited into the Kentucky State Treasury. The Contractor shall be responsible for collecting all co-pays. Co-pays are outlined in CPP 13.1 (Exhibit 5a) and 13.2 (Exhibit 5b).

When medical care for an inmate exceeds the routine services definition, DOC must provide for Health Care Services for the inmate.
The Contractor shall therefore be responsible for providing Health Care Services in these cases on behalf of the DOC.
