Questions Set 5 05/31/19 Q1. For the workstations covered in 3.2.10 it states Type A workstations shall have a work surface that is 10’ long, however the drawings for this project show they are to be 12’ in length. Can you please clarify which length you want to go with?
A1. Section 3.2.10: Clarified Type A workstation to be 12’ long.
Q2. For the workstations covered in 3.2.10 it states that each workstation needs only a cabinet and a footrest, but the drawing shows a bench leg in the center of Type A and on one side of Type B. Do you not want us to quote bench legs as well to support those work surfaces?
A2. Yes quote bench legs as well to support those work surfaces as shown on AF Drawing GWH803-02.
Q3. For the modular cabinet mezzanine, on the first floor on the right hand side of the drawing you have a row of 4 Type C cabinets, but then on the upper level above them you have Type B units on top of them. We believe this was specified using Vidmar cabinets, however the manufacturer cannot meet that specification. You cannot stack 2 - 30” wide Vidmar cabinets on top of 60” wide cabinets below them. The static load capacity for the units comes from the 4 corners of the cabinets, so you have to make sure that you have all 4 corners of an upper cabinet supported by corners on a lower cabinet. You can stack 1 – 60” on top of 2 – 30” wide units, but not the other way around. In order to do this we either need to move the Type C units that are affected upstairs to the 2nd level and adjust the lower level overhead units accordingly, or we need to convert some of these Type C units to be 30” wide.
There are a total of 3 Type C units affected by this. We could also just lay out 3 Type C cabinets on the upper level above 3 Type C cabinets on the main level and we would be fine.
A3. Updated the layout of the modular cabinet mezzanine. The right side of the layout now has 3 type C cabinets on the upper level above 3 type c cabinets on the main level now. Updated 3.2.5.7 of Appendix C Drawer configuration table with new cabinet quantity to match AF Drawing.
Q4. For the modular cabinet mezzanine, we have an issue with the stairs. I’m attaching a drawing of how the layout would need to be if you are using Vidmar stair kits. We need cabinets on the upper level to tie into. This doesn’t change the layout a lot and we’d still have a 60” walkway as required, but this does change the layout of the lower level slightly. If we were to try and match your current drawings there would need to be extra free standing supports, extra decking, etc which were not a part of the spec. We believe with a modification to the lower level layout you can achieve the desired outcome with your current materials list.
A4. Modified the layout of the modular cabinet mezzanine. See AF Drawing GWH803-01. Added two more Type C cabinets under each staircase platforms for support. If extra free standing supports and decking are needed to achieve this layout that is acceptable
