Holloman Question Set #4
Question 1 through 6 is regarding the Modular Office:
Question 1: The statement of work calls for a non-combustible panel, yet also calls for a class A fire rated panel with a vinyl covered gypsum layer per side combined with a polystyrene core. A polystyrene core is not typically used for a non-combustible panel. A class A fire rated panel can be provided with a vinyl covered gypsum panel using a polystyrene core. A non-combustible panel can be provided with either a poly-iso or a mineral wool core. Could you have this requirement clarified?
Answer: A class “A” fire rated panel shall be provided as specified. Class A panels are often classified as non-combustible, even though if exposed long enough they will catch on fire.
Question 2: Where is the exact location of the tie in point for the fire suppression? How far from the new structure is the connection point?
Answer: The location of the existing fire riser for the building has been added to AF Drawing AHL706-
04. The total distance from riser to modular office is approximately 125’ not including risers.
Question 3: Could the air conditioner system be clarified. The statement of work calls for both an air conditioner panel that sounds like it is to be a wall mounted unit as well as an air conditioning system that sounds like a split system. The drawing shows both a wall unit as well as a condenser unit. Is the system preferred a split system unit with ducting required? How far away will the condensation need to be pumped for adequate removal? Is a ductless mini-split system an acceptable option?
Answer: A wall mounted unit or split system (with or without ducting) shall be acceptable.
Question 4: The statement of work calls for barrier rail but the drawing only shows one bollard. Could this requirement be clarified? How much barrier rail is needed, if any, and where is it to be located.
Answer: A bollard shall be provided as shown on AF Drawing AHL706-04; Appendix G has been updated to reflect this.
Question 5: Please confirm whether or not the windows referenced are fixed picture windows or sliding windows. The drawing shows what looks like a sliding window.
Answer: Fixed picture windows shall be provided.
Question 6: Is it acceptable for the doors to be installed on site versus being pre-installed in the wall panel, for ease of installation?
Answer: Yes, doors being installed on site rather than pre-installed in the wall panel is acceptable.
Question 7: Pertaining to Appendix D for the Cabinet Mezzanine. The supplier has stated on past RFPs and this one that the design asked for by the engineer isn’t something they can make and have come out the way drawn and spec’ed. His explanation for this is below. Please ask the engineer which option he would prefer. Thank you.
Right now there are no overheads on the base cabinets under the walkway. If the system is built like that it would be the only way the stairs measure 90” in length.
Right now for cabinets it’s only a “0340” storage cabinet which makes the 60” in length. So the drawing shows the stairs at 90” which the last cabinet will hang past the steps by 30”
Here are the only options I see right now:
* We lose (2) “0340” cabinets and the overheads as well.
* Increase the “0340” cabinet qty’ by (1) and lose one overhead. Good thing about this also is we keep the overall length presented on the BID the same. The design would just be different.
Answer: The end of the stairs for the mini-mezzanine do not need to be flush with the end of the adjacent cabinets. If the stairs only take up 60” of the shown 90” that is acceptable as long as the total cabinet count stays the same.
Question 8: Are there 12 carriages with modular cabinets back to back or 22 carriages with back to back widespan on mobile aisle #1 or 6 carriages with modular cabinets back to back or 11 carriages with back to back widespan on mobile aisle #1?
All of the pic descriptions have this noted (12 rows/22 rows etc) - we are trying to understand each configuration and the actual quantities to be removed.
Answer: Each referenced row is one row of rack with most carriages containing two rows on them.
For example in Mobile Aisle #1 there are 2 stationary carriages (1 at each end) and 5 mobile carriages (each containing 2 rows of rack) for a total of 7 carriages and 12 rows of modular cabinets.
Question 9: how much concrete needs to be repaired that has imbedded rail? Has enough time been allotted in the contract to allow for imbedded rail removal and concrete cure/repairs? There is extensive concrete work to be performed.
Answer: Imbedded rails shall be left as is with no need for removal/repair.
Question 10: The revision did not include mention of removing mobile aisle rail and concrete replacement. It only mentioned epoxying holes from anchors.
Can you please address the mobile aisle rail removal and concrete repair (there's a lot).
Answer: All imbedded rails shall be left as is with no need for removal repair. Elevated mobile aisle sections will require removal/disposal and should not require any concrete work (while still following guidelines for epoxying holes from the anchors as already specified)
