PURCHASE DESCRIPTION

TANK, STORAGE, LIQUID OXYGEN/LIQUID NITROGEN

4.6.7.1 Vibration.

Was: The tank assembly shall be filled to design capacity with a cryogenic liquid having a density of not less than 9.5 pounds per U.S. gallon and pressurized to not less than 45 psig. The filled and pressurized tank, with the servicing hose secured in the storage position, shall be subjected to the vibration testing specified in MIL-STD-810 method 514.6, category 1, basic transportation , to show compliance with the requirements of 3.4.4. The tank assembly shall be carefully examined after each test phase and following completion of the overall test. Damage to or failure of any tank assembly components, loosening of fasteners, loss of instrument calibration, or loss of vacuum in the annular space shall be considered a failure of the tank assembly to pass the test.

Change to: The tank assembly shall be filled to design capacity with a cryogenic liquid having a density of not less than 9.5 pounds per U.S. gallon and pressurized to not less than 45 psig. The filled and pressurized tank, with the servicing hose secured in the storage position, shall be subjected to the vibration testing specified in MIL-STD-810 method 514.6, category 4, 7 and 8, transportation, to show compliance with the requirements of 3.4.4. The tank assembly shall be carefully examined after each test phase and following completion of the overall test. Damage to or failure of any tank assembly components, loosening of fasteners, loss of instrument calibration, or loss of vacuum in the annular space shall be considered a failure of the tank assembly to pass the test.

4.6.9.5.2 Tie down provision test.

Delete: The tank assembly shall be filled to design capacity with a cryogenic liquid having a density of not less than 9.5 pounds per U.S. gallon. Weights totaling not less than 11,000 pounds shall be attached to the tank so that the combined weight of the filled tank and the weights will be supported by the hoisting and tiedown rings when the tank is raised by an overhead crane. The tank and weights combination shall then be raised to a height of not less than 3 feet above the floor by a single-hook crane using the hoisting and tiedown rings, held in that position for not less than 1 minute, and then lowered to the floor. This procedure shall be repeated 3 times. There shall be no damage to or any distortion of any tank component. Nonconformance to the requirements of 3.6.3 shall constitute failure of this test.

4.6.9.6.2 Lifting provision test.

Add: The tank assembly shall be filled to design capacity with a cryogenic liquid having a density of not less than 9.5 pounds per U.S.

4.6.13 First article vacuum retention.

Was: “Following the air transport flight and taxiing tests, and the lifting provision tests, the tank inner shell shall be filled with liquid oxygen or liquid nitrogen to not less than 60% of design capacity….”

Change to: “Following the lifting provision tests, the tank inner shell shall be filled with liquid oxygen or liquid nitrogen to not less than 60% of design capacity….”
