Text version

*Aftermarket solutions to measure outside air flow generally do not work with packaged HVAC units due to limited space and geometry causing excessive turbulence. Factory options for outside air flow are sometimes available. Would the government prefer to: 1. Require a factory flow sensor option. 2. Calculate outside air flow from supply and return air flow sensors or 3. Delete this requirement.

PROVIDE AIRFLOW MONITORING

*A discharge damper is not required on this type of unit can it be deleted? If not please explain the purpose.

DAMPER IS REQUIRED FOR THE EMERGENCY SHUTDOWN (ATFP)

*What is the required location of the hot water coil valve? Will it be located inside the unit or outside, above the roof line or below?

LOCATE THE HOT WATER VALVE ABOVE THE ROOF LINE (FOR MAINTENANCE PURPOSES). INSIDE OF THE UNIT WOULD BE PREFERABLE.

*The specifications of this project call for the hot water coils on the RTUs and Vav to be tied in to the building hot water loop. Previous jobs in this building have had heat exchangers installed to separate from the main building water loop due to the problems with the main loop (i.e. leaks, untreated system, etc.). Will a heat exchanger be required for this project?

CONNECT TO THE HOT WATER LOOP AS SHOWN. NO HEAT-EXCHANGERS WERE MENTIONED IN THE RFP.
