ROUND 3 – SABER RFIs
1. Section 1.4.5.7 in the Statement of Work requests that the new finish floor drain to the new floor drain. Question: Is there an existing floor drain?
A1: A floor drain does not currently exist in the janitor’s closet.
2. Section 1.4.7.11 in the Statement of Work requests that the exhaust fans shall have an antiterrorism force protection (ATFP) shut off switch and be tied into the existing emergency shut off system. Question: Where in Building 3001 is the existing shut off system located?
A2: Refer to previous response provided in Round 1 A14 and Round 2 A63.
Previous Responses included here for reference:
Round 2, A63 - “There is an existing master building control center but due to the size and extent of B3001, relays have been located in the overhead fan decks throughout the building in order to provide multiple tie-in points distributed throughout the building. The nearest tie-in location is typically located at the nearest fan deck. For A85, the nearest fan deck is AHU 22 located overhead at approximately Column K80.
Round 1, A14 – “If this question is in relation to 1.4.7.10.2 on the shut off switch, then the restroom Exhaust Fans shall be connected via relay to the AT/FP shutdown circuit located at the nearest Fan Deck Unit.”

a. The dimension labeled “5’-10” measures to be equal to the “5’-0” dimension
b. The dimension labeled “22’-2”” measures approximately 20’-7” with the current scale
c. Dimensions “10’-11½”” and “10’-1½ “” measure as equals
A5: The dimensions called out are meant to reflect the most accurate dimensions based on the minimum design information provided. It is the Contractor’s responsibility to verify the as-built conditions as identified in 1.2.2 of the Seed SOW.
6. For the new floor plan, without dimensions we have no way to verify the scale. Please advise.
A6: The final dimensions of the new floor plan are part of the minimum design requirement. The Contractor shall incorporate the design and code requirements in the existing footprint of the restroom.
7. In the SW corner of the women’s restroom, there is an unlabeled fixture to be removed. Please advise what this is.
A7: This is a locker and will be removed by others.
8. On the south wall of the women’s restroom, are these two fixtures trash receptacles?
A8: The “fixtures” on the south wall of the women’s restroom (across from the sinks) are existing paper towel dispensers and a trash receptacle.

Previous response stated, “The Contractor shall be responsible for identifying the necessary logistical, architectural, structural, mechanical and electrical work elements required to perform this project. Also the contractor is expected to perform a site visit to verify existing conditions including verification of dimensions of the required work.”
12. Is there a requirement for a temporary restroom while the work is being done?
A12: A temporary restroom is not required.
13. Will night work be required for the demolition? Is night work an option if the contractor wants to work nights? What would the hours be?
A13: Refer to previous Q&A, Round 2 #30.
Previous response stated, “Standard work hours are identified with the exception being outages.”
14. Are we reusing existing electrical circuits? Will we be required to run new wire back to an existing panel? If so where is this panel located?
A14: Refer to previous Q&As, Round 1 A3 and Round 2 A31. Contractor shall replace existing electrical circuits to the panel.
Previous responses stated, “Panel is at C87, circuits 2, 4, 6, 19, 21.”
15. Is the fire alarm system Class A? If so who will be responsible for programming the panel for the new devices?
A15: Refer to previous Q&As, Round 1 A13 and Round 2 A32 & A33 Previous responses stated, “Match the existing F/A System Class “A” Wiring” and “Refer to SEED SOW Para. 1.4.13”

17. Drawings call for new sprinkler pipe and heads. How much pipe is to be replaced? At what point does the new pipe begin? Is the existing system a wet or dry system?
A17: Refer to previous Q&A, Round 2 A34.
Previous response stated, “Existing system is wet pipe as is typically required by UFC 3-600-01. In addition, the Contractor shall be responsible for identifying the necessary logistical, architectural, structural, mechanical and electrical work elements required to perform this project. Also the contractor is expected to perform a site visit to verify existing conditions including verification of dimensions of the required work. It is recommended that the contractor consult with the qualified personnel they will be using in order to meet the requirements of UFC 3-600-01 for a detailed analysis of the required modification to the existing system. In this particular case, the drawing note instructs contractor to adjust sprinkler head location. This typically indicates a NICET Level III technician will be providing a sprinkler layout drawing for the new restroom layout including any new sprinkler head locations and any other required calculation or verification including exactly what the required modifications of the existing system will entail.”
