Addendum No. 1

United States Air Force Academy Repair HTHW Phase 1/4 Project No. XQPZ 07-0303 SEC Project No. 12145-3 August 26, 2013

GENERAL:

1.

REVISIONS TO THE SPECIFICATIONS:

1. Refer to the Specifications Section 00 10 00, Paragraph 5: Change Paragraph to read “High temperature hot water service to the Academic Area, Community Center Area and Falcon Club Area shall be maintained throughout the duration of this project. The Academy shall furnish the temporary portable boilers, connect them up to the temporary boiler hookups, and operate them at all times. The contractor shall be responsible for moving the temporary portable boilers into place and back to their original storage location, and shall provide all required fuel to provide temporary heat for the Academic Area, Community Center Area and the Falcon Club Area. The temporary boilers shall be connected into the existing temporary boiler connections as shown on drawing sheet G-004. Each site has an existing 480V/3ф electrical branch circuit available for the temporary portable boilers.

2. Refer to the Specifications Section 01 00 00, Paragraph 1.3 A.: Change Paragraph to read “This project involves replacement and repair of the High Temperature Hot Water (HTHW) distribution piping from the Central Heat Plant to Valve Vault (VV-5) along Academy Drive.”

3. Refer to the Specifications Section 23 05 50, Paragraph 3.2 B.: Change “Radiographic examination shall be provided by the by the contractor on 25% of all welds.” To “ Radiographic examination shall be provided by the by the contractor on 25% of all field welds.”

4. An alternate bid is described on the drawings and in the design Bid Schedule. The design intent was to have all items related to abatement as a separate bid item, this has now changed. The contractor will follow the direction given in the solicitation.

REVISIONS TO THE DRAWINGS:

1. Refer to the Drawings, Sheet MD101, MD102 & MD103, General Note 10: Revise note to read

“The existing drawings indicate that the interstitial space (the space between the outer conduit casing and the inner carrier pipe) in the existing conduit piping system contains insulating cement.

The contractor shall assume that the insulating cement has asbestos containing materials. The outer conduit also has a coal-tar protective coating with asbestos containing materials. Contractor is responsible for handling and disposal of these asbestos containing materials in accordance with regulatory requirements.
