SYNOPSIS OF WORK

PROJECT TITLE: F-35 Repair Arctic Utilidor

LOCATION: EIELSON AFB, ALASKA

PROJECT: FTQW 18-0321

DESCRIPTION OF WORK:

The purpose of this project is to replace service laterals within utiliduct laterals to Buildings 3417, 3419, 3420, 6209 and 3446. Work shall include excavation and proper disposal of soils (may be contaminated), demolition and patch/repair of small portions of existing concrete utiliduct boxes where applicable, demolition and replacement of mechanical piping and systems to be replaced, demolition and installation of piping structural systems within the utiliduct laterals, and demolition and replacement of electrical systems for communications and alarms.

The mechanical scope of this project is to replace service laterals within utiliducts to Buildings 3417, 3419, 3420, and 3446 with like and kind sizing. Service lines to be replaced include any or all of the following services: Steam, Condensate, Water and/or Sewer. The main utilidor along Industrial Drive is being replaced under the EIE405 utilidor upgrade project. The services will connect to this new piping at the main and to existing valves within the buildings.

Demolition for this project shall generally consist of excavation as required to expose the service laterals and remove the utiliduct lids, and to replace the service utilities as identified in the Scope of Work. In addition, saw‐cutting and removal of pavements will be required at Building 3446 as the service lateral runs under an asphalt parking lot and connects to the building under an 8‐foot wide concrete apron with curb and gutter. Renovate interior corridor to provide view windows into hangar area for monitoring of hangar without being physically present in work area. The 36‐inch diameter CMP service lateral and 16‐inch square concrete service utiliduct that serve Building 6209 shall remain in place, with extra excavation along the ends of this run to facilitiate removal of existing piping.

It is anticipated that contaminated soils will be encountered. Prior to any soil disturbing activities, a Sampling and Analysis Plan (SAP) will be developed in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local requirements. Required permits will be obtained prior to excavation, handling, stockpiling, or disposal of contaminated material. Active field screening and stockpiling will be provided throughout the duration of excavation activities to determine if contamination is present. If encountered, contaminated soils shall be stockpiled and managed in accordance with the approved SAP.

26 June 2018

Excavations requiring backfilled shall be filled with clean/common fill dirt, compacted per specifications, and covered with topsoil and seed as indicated in the construction documents.

Existing structural supports for piping will be removed, to be replaced with metal strut beam supports with surface-mount anchors on the walls as indicated in the construction documents.

Utiliduct lids will be reused if undamaged, but replaced if damaged. Details called out in construction documents.

The CMP culvert to Building 6209 shall be left in place as indicated above in the civil/excavation discussion. Pipe supports will be installed, but the anchors will be left in place.

Communications, electrical/power, and alarm system wiring to be relocated as indicated in the construction documents.
