1. What type of paint is used, is it thermoplastic?

Refer to specification section 32-17-24-00.10, paragraph 2.1 “Paint”

1. Is dustless blaster okay 6for the rubber removal?

Refer to specification section 32-01011.52, paragraph 3 “Equipment” and 5. “Method of Operation/Execution”

1. Will there be a staging area for equipment?

Yes.

1. Will water be available at the facility or do we need to bring our own tank?

All reasonable quantities of existing utilities will be made available to the Contractor without charge. Any temporary connections or lines required shall be installed, maintained, and removed at the Contractor's expense. Any damage associated with the use of these utilities shall be repaired and/or replaced in a manner satisfactory to the Contracting Officer at Contractor's expense. Refer to attached Contractor Request for Use of Dyess AFB Fire Hydrants. Water is available in two ways: a truck fill station or existing fire hydrant.

1. Will there be a disposal are provided or does waste need to be hauled off site?

Contractor is responsible of disposal of all waste generated by this contract. All waste shall be hauled off of government property. Refer to specification section 00 01 04 “Environmental” for additional requirements.

1. We see the strip is asphalt but when using google maps we see concrete. If its asphalt would a non-damaging chemical wash be acceptable for the rubber removal?

Pavement type within rubber removal area at runway 16/34 is concrete. Pavement type within rubber removal area at runway 164/344 is asphalt. No chemical is allowed for rubber removal. Refer to response #2 above.

1. Will lighted closure X’s be required to close the runways during this work?

No.

1. Will barricades be required to close taxi ways during this work?

No.

1. Will the base provide a location for draining the filtered recovered water from the rubber removal process or does the contractor have to have it hauled off site?

No, it is the contractor’s responsibility to properly dispose of any debris related to this contract per the specifications section 00 01 04 Environmental Part 3 – “Disposal of Wastes, Waste Minimization, and Excess Materials”. We have allowed a temporary bin (made with liner) to washout the debris from the vacuum truck for later disposal off of government property.
