About this file
This document contains questions and answers regarding solicitation number FA4626-20-R-0006 from the Department of the Air Force Global Strike Command for repair of the E-01 MAF water well. The requirement is to abandon and replace the existing domestic water well, install a new water treatment system, wastewater handling equipment, and all related electrical and control systems at E-01 MAF. The estimated value of the contract is between $500,000 and $1,000,000. Funds are not presently available and any government obligation is contingent upon appropriation. Clarification is provided that the new well pump circuits can utilize the existing 2-inch conduit and handhole/junction box, and that detail 1/E2.1 regarding an injection well does not apply to this requirement. The electrician may perform insulation resistance testing.

FA4626-20-R-0006: Repair E-01 Water System
Questions and Answers (Part 3):
Q4: CLIN 0006 in the solicitation, the requirement for the “New Deep Injection Well,” does not match the attached specifications. Can you clarify?
A4 (From 341 CES/CEMD): In the early phases of the NZAS16-006 water well projects, discharging the effluent into a deep injection well was the initial option of disposal. This is NOT the case for this requirement. For FA4626-20-R-0006, Repair E-01Water System, the effluent shall be discharged into the existing lagoon per the specifications and drawings.
Reference Amendment #3 to remove CLIN 0006.
Q5: Specification 26 05 19 1.5 A. Calls for an independent testing agency. Specification 26 05
19 3.7 A-D calls for an insulation resistance test. The electrician generally performs this work while he is there with a calibrated tool. May the electrician perform this item?
A5 (From 341 CES/CEMD): Yes the electrician can perform the insulation resistance test on the feeder conductors for this project.
Q6: Per drawing E1.0, circuits for the new well pump are to be installed in the existing 2” conduit, then in 1” conduit from the old well head to the new one. This will require a J-box. Are we to install the J-box on the well casing or in a handhole?
A6 (From 341 CES/CEMD): There is an existing handhole/J-box installed at the end of the 2” conduit shown on the plans. The intent is to utilize the existing 2” conduit and junction box for the feeder line. The feeder line will continue through the junction box into the 1” conduit to the well head.
Q7: Is Detail 1/E2.1 used?
A7 (From 341 CES/CEMD): No, this detail is not used. There will not be an injection well installed for this project. This was a carryover from previous designs. Disregard detail 1/E2.1 for this requirement.
Reference Amendment #3.
