About this file

This document contains questions and answers related to solicitation number FA4626-20-R-0006 from the Department of the Air Force Global Strike Command. The solicitation is for a project to abandon and replace the existing domestic water well, install a new water treatment system, install new wastewater handling equipment and install all related electrical and control equipment at E-01 Missile Alert Facility. The project magnitude is estimated between $500,000 and $1,000,000. Funds are presently unavailable and any contract awarded would be contingent on appropriated funds. The questions and answers provide clarification that detectable warning tape cannot be installed through directional bore but a tracer wire will be used, and a site visit will not be conducted due to the remote location and security requirements of the E-01 MAF site.

FA4626-20-R-0006: Repair E-01 Water System

Questions and Answers (Part 2):

Q2: Please clarify the requirements for achieving “Single Pipe Trench Detail” (as shown on sheet C3.0) for locations requiring a directional bore on the new effluent water line.

A2 (From 341 CES/CEMD): The single trench detail was utilized for a couple different applications. It is used for both the effluent and raw water supply piping installation for this project.

Where there is open trench excavation there shall be detectable metallic warning tape installed at a max depth of 12” directly over the pipe.

It should be assumed that the detectable warning tape will not be able to be installed over the bored pipe (because there is not an open trench). The effluent line from the pump house to the sewage lagoon manhole will only include a tracer wire. The note under the single pipe detail on sheet C3.0 states that there shall be a tracer wire pulled in with the pipe.

Q3: Would it be possible to schedule a site visit?

A3: Due to the geographic location of the E-01 Missile Alert Facility (MAF) site (2 hour & 40 minute drive time from Malmstrom AFB), the security measures required for the visit to the site, and the standardized nature of the work requirements, a site visit will not be conducted.

Please submit additional written questions if the site conditions are not clear in the specifications.
