Reponse to Questions

1. On sheet E0.3, a temporary feeder from the existing 750kVA transformer is shown to be two sets of #500 copper. There is only one existing conduit set for use for this. What is the plan for the second conduit or is it up to the contractor?

Between the secondary of the transformer and the temporary main circuit breaker, the intent is to pull all the conductors in the one spare conduit. If the contractor feels that he may not be able to accomplish this, the contractor shall run an additional appropriately sized conduit by his means and methods and make repairs to any penetrations. The neutral may be downsized to 350 kcmil.

Between the temporary main circuit breaker and the MDBA, may run one 4-inch conduit or two appropriately sized smaller conduits.

2. Spec section 26 05 19 indicates that independent 3rd party testing may be required for

Meggering low voltage conductors. Can this testing be done by the contractor as with the medium voltage cable?

The contractor may perform megger testing and provide results to the Govt.

3. Spec 26 00 00, 1.19.C.2 calls for the government to keep some material and contractor to dispose of the rest. Other than the automatic transfer switch, does the government want anything else?

Contractor to deliver the automatic transfer switch to the government. Contractor to dispose of all other removed items and equipment.

4. Spec 26 05 13.2.2.A calls for stainless steel nametags for identifying conductors. May 1" x 3" plastic name tags as called out in 26 05 53.2.4 and 2.5 be used?

Plastic name tags may be used in lieu of stainless steel.

5. Can the contractor perform meggar tests instead of an independent testing agency?

Yes. Contractor may perform tests in the presence of government employee. Contractor shall submit test results to the government.
