QUESTIONS & ANSWERS FOR

FA4626-R-0005 Anti-Ram Cables Group C 14 Jun 2016

1. Where it is tight areas and we cannot get equipment inside the fence to dig for the terminal posts and even the line posts would it be possible to take the fence apart so the holes can be dug from the outside?

A. Yes, the fence can be removed provided it is put back and secure within the same workday. An AF guard will have to be provided while the fence is opened up.

2. The anti ram cable is rated for 4,000 LBS vehicle at 50 MPH with maximum penetration of 40FT. If that is the case the buildings would be hit, if a crash occurred other than at the crash gate. Is that rating sufficient, and is that penetration rating acceptable?

A. Yes.

3. Would an approved and crash tested M50 P2 anti ram cable barrier, with a higher crash rating than what is specified be acceptable as an alternative?

A. No, please provide what is shown.

4. Do M30 crash rated bollards need to be placed in front of the gate operator or on either side of opening, and in the utility pad ? What is the size and rating for the jersey barriers at the utility pad, would shallow mount m30 rated bollards be acceptable instead of the jersey barrier?

A. Install per drawings, CX-502 and CX505. We do not want anything buried in the areas where jersey barriers are being installed.

5. How many cycles per day are expected for the gate operator at each site?

A. Approximately 30 cycles per day per site.

6. Item 3.6.1 How many roadmaster declared delays are anticipated?

A. Unknown, we anticipate minimal since this project has a winter exclusion.

7. Item 3.19.1 What is the decibel rating required for equipment and vehicles?

A. Not specified.

8. Item 3.22.1 Is the Telco representative local, or how long does it take the rep to show up, to mark near communications lines?

A. The Telco representative is local and they typically respond within 48 hrs after being notified.

9. Item 3.22.1 What is considered on the drawings to be required to obtain a AF 103 form?

A. All work and digging needs to be cleared on the AF Form 103.

10. What is considered the free zone?

A: The Free zone includes the entire MAF except for anything beyond the FSC office door. If entry is required into the FSC office it will require scheduling and an escort will need to be provided.

11. Section 2.0 will an electrical permit be required?

A. No, a separate electrical permit will not be required; the Work Clearance Permit (AF Form 103) will be required.

12. Section 4.4 will a temporary concrete washout bin onsite be acceptable?

A. The washout bin is not allowed on-site.

13. Will any landscape sprinklers be disturbed during excavation, if so what are the specs?

A. No sprinklers.

14. Will a heater be required in the crash gate?

A. Yes, due to gate being installed in the northern tier, a heater will be required.

15. At the site visit I noticed the existing gate isn't in line with the current fence line. Is it possible to install the new crash gate in line with the existing fence line?

A. The fences vary per site; install per the drawings.

16. Can we get pictures of where the conduit attaches to the building?

A. Some pictures were shown at the pre-bid site visit; these pictures can be made available.

17. How many card readers will be tied into the gate control system?

A. None.

18. Is the entry phone system tied into gate control system?

A. No, these systems are independent.

19. Are free exit loops required for exit for the new crash gate?

A. No.

20. Will the crash gate be controlled from a remote location, which would be the master control?

A. The gate will be controlled by the FSC Office, located in the MAF building.

21. Is a temporary lay down yard, with temporary fencing acceptable outside of each facility?

A. An area outside the facility will need to be coordinated and approved by the local landowner. Space inside the fenced area varies by site and will need to be coordinated with the site Facility Manager.

22. What will the requirements be for any asphalt patch back?

A. The preferred patch method is concrete due to the expected quantities at each site, but 4” of hot mix asphalt would be acceptable.

23. Will the contractor install, and integrate the new crash gate control panel inside of the MAF facility?

A. Yes

24. The drawing sheet note 4 says, install new conduit from duct bank com pull box to camera pole, is there any work required with the camera or integration to the camera?
