QUESTIONS & ANSWERS FOR
FA4626-R-0005 Anti-Ram Cables Group A 13 Jun 2016
1. Cx501 # 3 says line posts for cables are sch 40 then on Cx502 line posts are to be Sch 80 please verify.
A: The line posts are to be Schedule 80; drawings to be modified accordingly in the forthcoming amendment.
2. Cx505 / 3 -Fence posts next to the new gate stanchions require 4" sch 80 is the next post at the corner of fence 4" sch 80 also or can it be 2 7/8 post like the rest of the fence?
A: The posts on each side closest to the gate are shown to be 4” Schedule 80, this is correct; the corner post next to this 4”post can be 2-7/8”.
3. Can a Cantilever gate with an electric operator be used for the temp gate instead of the vertical lift gate? If so can we widen the temp fence are enough to make the gate fit? or what ever adjustments we might be needed?
A: Two fold question, yes the Cantilever gate can be used but would need to be supplied whereas the lift gates are on hand. Yes the temp fence can be widened as long as land owner easements are maintained.
4. Will the temp gate need to have safety loops installed or will the photo eye be enough?
A: Safety eye will be sufficient.
5. Can the power to the temp gate be above ground?
A: Yes, the temporary power can be routed above ground, provided it is out of the way of traffic and meets NEC temporary wiring requirements.
6. Can we have a area near the compound to park over night during construction?
A: Yes, as long as the driveway entrance and access to the MAF is not impeded and land owner easements are followed. Most access roads have an easement of 50 feet from the center of the road in either direction. Some parking areas are available but again must not interfere with MAF operations.
7. Since the Terminal posts and line posts for the cables are galvanized is it necessary to have them painted yellow?
A: Galvanized surfaces will not require painting. The forthcoming addendum will clarify this.
8. Can some of the ground that is dug out for the concrete pads be used for back fill or does all of it have to be hauled in?
A: If the soil is similar to surrounding soils for back filling up to a pad then yes, if it’s to be used for concrete pad build up then it needs to meet the specifications outlined for those areas.
9. Will a core test be required for the concrete? Or will the tests from the plant be enough?
A: The concrete test sampling requirements are addressed in specification section 033000, paragraph 3.17.
10. How many compounds will we be able to do at a time?
A: No more than two MAFs will be worked at a time; this will be clarified in the forthcoming addendum.
11. I notice on the details for the line post it states in one section that it is calling for a schedule 40 and in a different area it is calling for schedule 80, which one do we use?
A: Answered in Question 1.
12. When the electrician is in the building does he need a government escort, or does he need the QC or Project manager with him or can he work alone?
A: The Free Zone includes the entire MAF except for anything beyond the FSC office door. If entry is required into the FSC office it will require scheduling and an escort will need to be provided.
