FA4608-17-R-0017 Repair Hangar 1 Doors and Heat
Questions and Answers
Q1. The solicitation indicates an offer guarantee is not required. Can you please confirm?
A1. The offer guarantee has been waived by the contracting officer however, we do ask that the proposal be valid for 180 calendar days.
Q2. When obtaining a view of the pipe per the camera and encounter a collapsed pipe, which will be an unseen scope of work, will this be a mod to the contract or how will this be handled in regards to repair of the area or areas of collapse?
A2. A determination will be made at that time, depending on size, magnitude of issues and funding available. The Contractor will not be liable for repairing the issue under the existing contract unless they were somehow responsible for causing the obstruction.
Q3. For Spec Section 084500 - Translucent Fiberglass Sandwich Panels, there are two manufacturers listed, Kalwall and CPI. In Paragraph 2.2. it states, "Thermoplastics (eg.
Polycarbonate, acrylic) faces are not acceptable."
Kalwall uses only fiberglass but CPI only uses polycarbonate. The spec is copied directly from Kalwall so it includes language to attempt eliminating competition. Is it your intent to not allow CPI or other translucent manufacturers using polycarbonate to bid?
A3. There are actually 3 vendors listed in the specifications and are as follows:
1. Kalwall Corporation, Tel: (800) 258-9777 - Fax: (603) 627-7905 - Email: info@kalwall.com
2. Muhler, Tel: (843) 572-9727
3. CPI Daylighting, Inc, Tel: (800) 759-6985 - Fax: (847) 816-0425 - Email: info@cpidaylighting.com
Our intent is not to specifically exclude anyone, but product must meet the specifications as published.
