About this file

This is an Insurance Requirements exhibit for a contract with the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (LACMTA). The document establishes mandatory insurance coverage that the contractor must procure and maintain throughout the contract duration to protect against claims for injuries to persons or property damage arising from contract performance. The contractor is required to maintain Commercial General Liability coverage with minimum limits of $1,000,000 per occurrence (with a $2,000,000 general aggregate limit), Automobile Liability coverage with minimum limits of $1,000,000 per accident, and Workers' Compensation insurance compliant with California statutory requirements along with Employer's Liability Insurance. All insurance policies must be obtained from California-admitted insurers with an A.M. Best's rating of no less than A- VII.

The insurance policies must name LACMTA, its subsidiaries, officials, and employees as additional insureds and must be primary coverage with respect to LACMTA's own insurance. Contractors must provide original endorsements and certificates of insurance prior to work commencement and declare any deductibles or self-insured retentions exceeding $25,000 for LACMTA approval. Coverage cannot be suspended, voided, or canceled without thirty days' prior written notice to LACMTA. Additionally, contractors are responsible for ensuring all subcontractors are appropriately insured, with the prime contractor serving as the repository for all subcontractor insurance documentation, which LACMTA may request at any time.
