About this file

This is a Confidentiality Agreement from the Kansas Department of Revenue that applies to employees, agents, contractors, and other designates who may access confidential information during their work. The agreement specifies that individuals may have access to sensitive records including Kansas tax returns, federal tax returns, tax information from other states or countries, drivers license records, and motor vehicle records, including information furnished by the Internal Revenue Service. The document establishes that unauthorized disclosure of this confidential information may violate multiple Kansas statutes (K.S.A. 74-2012, 75-5133, 79-1119, 79-15,118, 79-3234, 79-3614) and federal laws (26 U.S.C. 6103, 7213, and 18 U.S.C. 2721 et seq.), with potential consequences including criminal penalties, civil penalties, and termination of employment.

All individuals with access to confidential Department of Revenue information must sign this agreement, acknowledging they will not disclose, divulge, release, or share any information contained in or derived from tax returns or motor vehicle records except as required in the performance of their assigned duties. The confidentiality obligation continues indefinitely, even after the individual ceases employment or service with the Kansas Department of Revenue. This agreement applies to the Janitorial Services contract for the Wichita Area, indicating that janitorial staff or contractors may have incidental access to areas containing confidential information and must comply with these restrictions.
