16. During the site visit on 10 November 21, we found an issue with the existing lightning protection system and wanted to bring it to your attention prior to working our bid proposal. We have other RFI’s but felt that this one concern was serious enough to push it forward for consideration. We brought our lightning protection company to the site visit b/c this part of the work is pretty extensive and important.

RFI, The SOW Paragraph 1.6 Lightning Protection: States to re-install new lightning protection system to the existing grounding cable. During the site visit yesterday it was discovered by the lightning protection company in attendance that the existing system is non-functional due to the lack of existing grounds.

If the new lightning protection system is connected to the existing ground points the new system will not be functional. In order to meet current codes and the requirements of certification as listed in the SOW, there will need to be numerous new grounding points installed. These new grounds will have to run on the outside of the building down to the ground for proper grounding. Should we add these new grounding points or should the Lightning protection be installed as listed without meeting the required certification?

Answer: Yes. A completely new lighting protection system will need to be installed along with grounding rods.

Answer: No. Due to water infiltration and existing ponding, REFER to Section 2 (Demo) of

SOW.

28. If TPO/PVC roof system is approved in lieu of modified bitumen cap sheet, Will it still be required to remove all existing edge metals, wood blocking? Or overlap new prefinished metal edging over existing (V/E)

Answer: Remove and replace all existing edge metals and wood blocking.

Answer: Yes, at no additional cost to the federal government

42. Due to constant price changes in the commercial roofing and sheet metal materials, all manufactures are not allowing prices to be locked in at current rates and will need to be repriced at time of delivery (Change orders may be requested to cover the off set cost)

Answer: This will be reviewed by the contracting officer on a case by case basis.
