Questions and Responses May 18th 2012

1. What is the square footage of each building?

Answer to question one

The entire United States Merchant Marine Academy contains approximately 900,000 ft.² of building space.

This includes buildings not listed In the Statement of Work. In phase 1 of the Architecture and Engineering contracting process, the individual building dimensions or square footage will not be available.

2. Has a schedule been fixed for the Building Evaluation Report?

Answer to Question Two

The schedule for completing the Building Evaluation Report will not be determined until after completion of phase 1.

3. Will a site visit take place?

Answer to Question Three

No site visit will take place during phase 1. A site visit will be available in phase 2. The date and time have yet to be determined.

4. Will MARAD consider firms or individuals who do not possess the qualifications specified in the Statement of Work?

Answer to Question Four

Relief from or substitution of other qualifications then those stated in the Statement of Work will not be granted.

5. How many elevators?

Answer to Question Five

11 elevators.

6. Will the phase 1 closing date of May 30, 2012 be extended?

Answer to Question Six

No extension of the deadline is anticipated

7. Will the government or the vendor is responsible for purchasing the software?

Answer to Question Seven

This question will be answered after the close of phase 1.

8. Will the vendor or the government be responsible for software installation and maintenance?

Answer to Question Eight

9. Will MARAD provide any more details on the software requirement?

Answer to Question Nine

MARAD is seeking the best practices of the industry;

therefore, only the minimum requirements are provided

10. Does MARAD anticipate requiring a cost estimating function to be included in the software or to interact with the software?

11. Will a revised solicitation the issue?

Answer to question 11

All information relating to the stage of the architecture and engineering process is provided. It is not anticipated that any changes will be made or issued.
