This work includes clearing; removing, conserving and replacing topsoil; excavation;

embankment construction; grading; and temporary surfacing. It also includes removing all items and reshaping slopes when the diversion is no longer required, seeding and mulching of disturbed areas, and any incidental work necessary to design, construct, maintain and remove the temporary roadway and bridge as described in the Special Use Permit to be obtained from the

USFS.

Materials

650.02 Provide material for the temporary bridge of satisfactory quality and condition as to meet the load requirements given in Subsection 650.05 for the duration of the project.

Conform to the following Sections and Subsections:

Asphalt Concrete Pavement 403 Crushed Aggregate 703.06 Unclassified borrow 704.06 Temporary Culvert Pipe 713.15 Temporary Pavement Markings 718.16 Water 725.01

Construction Requirements

Project: OR PFH 46(13), Fall Creek Bridge Replacement

Obtain a State of Oregon Scientific Take Permit for salvaging fish and other aquatic organisms from the work area prior to dewatering.

650.04 SubmittalsTemporary Traffic Diversion Design. Design a temporary traffic diversion conforming to this Section and the Special Use Permit issued by the USFS within the limits of the Temporary Construction Easement shown in the Plans. Submit drawings of temporary culverts, roadway cross sections, horizontal alignment and vertical alignment to the CO for approval, in accordance with Subsection 104.03. Include a copy of the Special Use Permit issued by the USFS.

If the traffic diversion includes a temporary bridge, Ssubmit a complete design, drawings, load rating, initial bridge inspection report, and erection plans of the temporary bridge and abutments to the CO for approval, in accordance with Subsection 104.03. Submit the initial bridge inspection report before allowing any traffic over the diversion. Submit a copy of the Special Use Permit issued by the USFS to the CO, prior to beginning work on the temporary traffic diversion.

If the traffic diversion includes a temporary culvert, survey the culvert according to Subsection 152.05(g). Submit a plotted field-design cross-section for approval according to Subsection 104.03.

At the preconstruction conference, submit a cost breakdown of the individual items included in the lump sum item for use in making progress estimate payments.

650.05 Temporary Bridge. Provide temporary bridge with a minimum roadway width of 14 feet, a minimum span length of 60 feet, and a minimum low chord elevation for all superstructure elements of 5430.8. Design the temporary bridge for a minimum load of HL-93 according to AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications. Provide bridge rail meeting AASHTO bridge rail criteria.

For the diversion structures which qualify as Bridges in accordance with the definition for bridge under 23 CFR Subpart C – Nation Bridge Inspection Standards (NBIS), perform an initial safety inspection for the diversion in accordance with the NBIS prior to opening the crossing to public.

Perform all other safety inspection in accordance with the NBIS and maintenance for the in-service diversion throughout its service life.

Perform a load rating of the bridge superstructure by or under the supervision of a licensed professional engineer according to AASHTO Manual for Bridge Evaluation.

Construct the temporary bridge over Fall Creek to the line and grade shown in the submittal, according to Subsection 650.04.

Perform all in-stream work required to construct the temporary bridge and abutments during the allowed in-stream work period given in Subsection 107.10.
