About this file
The document is a Vendor Response Template for a Magnetic Tape Library solicitation (CR-367706) issued by Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory. The template requires vendors to provide comprehensive technical details across multiple sections, including company information, hardware specifications, high availability features, data center environment requirements, VESDA detector installation procedures, and software documentation.
Key technical requirements include a tape library with 171PB total storage capacity, 100 I/O slots, 2 tape arm robots, 10 tape drives, enterprise-grade tapes with 19TB raw capacity, and 8 total frames/racks. The library must operate within specific environmental conditions: temperatures between 50-90°F, relative humidity of 30-70%, and cooling requirements of 27,000 BTU. Vendors must also provide detailed documentation on system requirements, drivers, APIs, command line interfaces, and graphical user interfaces for managing the library. Additional components like a custom management server and vendor-specific operating system are expected, with associated yearly licensing costs.

1.4 High Availability (HA) Information
List all components in the library that provide high availability (HA) along with their specific functions within the system. Expand the table with additional rows as necessary to ensure all relevant components are included.
Note: The examples provided in italic font are placeholders and do not reflect actual technical expectations.
COMPONENT DESCRIPTION
Tape Arm Robots Counts with two robots which function is to move tapes from/to the slots from/to the drives. Each robot can grab up to 2 tapes.
These robots have automatic fail over and provide a 90% redundancy since if one of them fails a small section where the failed robot is parked becomes inaccessible for the other robot.
Power Supply Units Counts with dual PSU’s in the internal library management servers with automatic failover that provides protection in case a power source/PSU fails.
1.5 Additional Hardware/Software Information
List any additional hardware or software not included in the proposal cost but required for managing the library (e.g., vendor-supplied computers, operating systems, etc.). Add more rows to the table as needed to ensure all necessary components are covered.
Note: The examples provided in italic font are placeholders and do not reflect actual technical expectations.
COMPONENT DESCRIPTION COST
Management Server The library requires a custom vendor supplied server to be managed. This server must also have a custom setup with proprietary software that is included below.
$3,000 USD
Vendor OS The management server must have this custom vendor operative system in order to operate the library management software. The license must be renewed in a yearly basis.
$1,000 USD to be billed yearly
1.6 Data Center and Environment Information
Please provide a rack/frame distribution diagram (similar to the example below) that clearly indicates the dimensions of each tape library frame. Specify which frames have power connections, the type of connectors used, and the corresponding power requirements. Complete the following tables as needed.
Note: The examples provided in italic font are placeholders and do not reflect actual technical expectations.

1.7 VESDA Detector Information
Provide complete documentation (or references to it) outlining the procedure for installing VESDA detectors, including the required clearance areas for proper installation. Clearly specify all requirements necessary to ensure the correct operation of the tape library and prevent any potential interference caused by the VESDA detectors.
1.8 Software Information
Provide the following documentation by including it directly or providing a reference to it:
1. System requirements (OS, memory, CPU, storage, etc.) to run the management software.
2. Drivers documentation and requirements. Include all components that require drivers differentiating those that are compatible with Linux generic drivers/apps

Re ar from those that require proprietary drivers (for these include their respective documentation or reference to it).
3. Application programming interfaces (API) documentation that are independent of the interfaces exposed by the drivers (like REST APIs) that can help in the development of tools for interacting with the library and its components.
4. Documentation regarding any command line interfaces (CLI) that can help in the administration of the library.
5. Documentation regarding any graphical user interfaces (GUI) for managing the library.
