Project Description: US1/SR5 Tidal Restoration at

Curry Hammock State Park

This Task Order is to perform the necessary actions needed to restore tidal connections on US1/SR5 at Curry

Hammock State Park. The proposed design includes all work associated with the connection including: the design of culverts (or equivalent), excavation and dredging, utility relocations including water transmission main relocation, and Florida Keys Overseas Heritage Trail realignment.

Task 1: Survey

Description: This scope for this project is to provide a design survey of approximately 1.1 miles of State Road 5

(US1), and parallel paved bike path, adjacent to Curry Hammock State Park, together with area around 2 existing adjacent channel sites, and bathymetric survey of existing channels. These services will include:

Horizontal and Vertical Control:

o Recover or set Horizontal Control, State Plane Coordinates (NAD83/2011) Florida East Zone, US Survey Feet, using GPS / FPRN techniques, and/or field traverse, to be used for design survey, and construction control o Recover or set Vertical Control, North American Vertical Datum of 1988 (NAVD 88), US Survey

Feet, using closed loop differential level runs from published benchmarks, on set horizontal control points.

o Horizontal and Vertical control will be set approximately every 1000’ along project corridor.

Right of Way of State Road 5, (US 1), as shown on Florida Department of Transportation Corridor

Map, for State Road 5, Section 60040 o Recover centerline alignment points, or other monumentation as may be available to establish the alignment, and approximate Right of Way lines, as shown on the map.

o Calculate alignment, as shown on the map.

o NOTE: The alignment will be referenced to Horizontal and Vertical Control by station & offset. The alignment itself will not be monumented.

Design Survey:

o NOTE: Design survey for un-obscured areas is to be collected using Aerial Imagery, and Aerial

Lidar techniques, and will provide an accuracy of 0.05’ horizontally and vertically, RMSe, for hard surface shots. If weather conditions are not ideal for aerial methods, terrestrial mobile lidar (TML) would be utilized to gather information. Obscured areas, and bathymetric survey will be accomplished with traditional survey techniques.

o Limits:

1.1 miles of State Road 5 (US 1), as shown on Florida Department of Transportation

Corridor Map, for State Road 5, Section 60040 o Existing right of way lines (50’ to the right of centerline, and 116’ to the left of centerline, Survey cross sections every 50’

Areas of 2 proposed box culverts across US 1, as shown below.

o Area landward of vegetation line.

Bridge over creek along park entrance road:

Matson_D Text Box

CN665 TA1

Page | 2 o Locate horizontal limits of bridge deck, and supporting piers, if any.

NOTE: This is not a complete bridge survey, no bent elevations, structures underneath, supports, etc. are included in this scope.’

o Locate:

all above ground improvements and above ground utilities. – minor utilities, above ground improvements, signage, etc.

Vegetation lines.

Topographic survey points to support a Digital Terrain Model.

Underground utilities, as marked by others.

Mean High Water elevation:

o Request a Mean High-Water determination from the Florida Department of Environmental

Protection.

o Show the Mean High-Water elevation on the survey, and approximate Mean High-Water line, within the limits of the Design Survey area.

o NOTE: The Mean High-Water Line will not be mapped within the bathymetric survey limits.

Underground Utility Lines:

o GPI will locate the underground utility lines as marked by (DRMP) others. The underground utility company (DRMP) shall provide GPI with sketches showing the approximate location of the underground lines as marked by DRMP on the field. GPI will locate the marked lines and compared to sketches provided by DRMP and will plot the lines on the Map of Topographic

Survey.

Bathymetric Survey o Bathymetric Survey of the limits shown in Blue, below.

o In areas of thick muck, top of muck, and bottom of muck will be located, if able.

o Limit of the Bathymetric Survey will be to the tree lines of the areas shown.

Wetland Lines – Anticipate 16,000’ of lines o Wetland Lines, to be designated by others.

o Horizontal location of wetland lines to be surveyed.

Geotechnical Borings:

o Either locate borings performed by others, with ground elevation accurate to 0.10’, or lay out borings for others to drill.

Underground Utilities o Locate underground utility designates, or VVH points, as marked by others.

Mapping o Design survey with 1’ contours within the project limits.
