About this file

This is a chemical specification sheet for calcium oxide (quicklime) for the Stonewall Regional Water Treatment Plant (SRWTP), associated with a sealed bid solicitation by the City of Murfreesboro, Tennessee for chemicals for water treatment. The City of Murfreesboro is seeking bids for quicklime with an estimated annual usage of 1,250 tons or 2,500,000 pounds. Sealed bids must be received no later than Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at 2:00 pm CST under ITB-31-2026. The product must be supplied in bulk and must be suitable for pneumatic unloading by the hauler with uniform particle size.

The specification requires that calcium oxide must meet NSF/ANSI Standard 60 (latest revision) and AWWA Specification B202 (latest revision), including the slake test requirement in Section 4.3. The chemical composition must contain a minimum of 94.5% available calcium oxide (CaO) and specified magnesium oxide (MgO) content. Bidders must submit pricing for the product price per pound and a separate freight charge per pound for a total bid amount. The highly reactive nature of quicklime and the large annual volume indicate this is a critical material for the water treatment process at this municipal facility.
