NPS Gold Rush Mechanical Renovations

Conditions (1) takes all appliances at full fire ensuring the system we have selected, breeching and stack diameters, will allow for full operation at any ambient temperature.

Conditions (2) has all appliances at full fire besides a single off appliance. This is to ensure that the off appliance does not experience positive pressure at the exhaust outlet and thus no exhaust being forced back into the mechanical room.

Conditions (3) are calculated at 32°F temperature with variable capacities of 100% for the first appliance, 75% for the second, and 50% for the remaining (if applicable) to determine if the system will remain inside draft requirements.

Conditions (4) are calculated at minimum appliance capacity and at low ambient temperature. This is to determine if the outlet pressure will remain within draft requirements.

The purpose of this report is to properly size a common vented system for several, and sometimes various, appliances. There are four worst case scenarios that are investigated to ensure that the maximum BTU’s may be obtained under all extreme conditions. Results of these calculations are based on interpreted layout(s) and appliance selection(s).

Please note that the following calculation is based on the ASHRAE Chimney and

Duct Design Equations. The preparer of this document disclaims any responsibility for any improper vent system performance resulting from this software.
