About this file

This is an attachment to an Invitation for Bid (IFB-161172) for Right-of-Way Mowing and Litter Removal Services issued by the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) for the Prince William Residency, West End Secondary Routes (Lot 2). The document establishes special safety provisions and specific operational requirements for the mowing services contractor. The scope of work requires mowing all designated areas from the pavement edge to one swath behind the ditch line or bike path, with a minimum five-foot clearance behind guardrails. Vegetation debris must be removed from travel roadways, gutter pans, sidewalks, bike paths, and drainage structures following each mowing operation. The contractor must complete any deficient work identified by VDOT within 48 hours at no additional cost.

The equipment requirements specify a minimum of three tractors with at least 75 horsepower each and three single flex wing rotary cutters with a 10-foot cutting width. All equipment must be presented for inspection within ten business days of VDOT's request, with failure to comply resulting in bid rejection. Crew requirements mandate a minimum of one crew consisting of six qualified and experienced personnel capable of performing commercial tractor mowing operations, with VDOT retaining the authority to immediately remove any crew member deemed unqualified. The contractor must provide comprehensive traffic control measures, including shadow vehicles and signage, with sufficient resources and equipment to cover the entire Prince William Residency West End lot.
