About this file
This file comprises an Environmental Policy document from the Miami-Dade Aviation Department (MDAD) that outlines the agency's commitment to environmental stewardship across its airport operations. The policy establishes six primary objectives: enhancing staff awareness of environmental concerns and responding promptly to incidents; implementing best management practices integrated with an environmental management system; continuing environmental rehabilitation efforts; preventing pollution through waste reduction and sustainable resource conservation; establishing and updating environmental objectives through strategic planning and audits; and ensuring regulatory compliance while exceeding applicable standards. MDAD commits to working collaboratively with tenants, suppliers, and contractors to promote sound environmental management practices and encourages employees to report environmental concerns to the Airport Operations Center at 305-876-0385 or to their supervisors.
The policy reflects MDAD's vision of environmental leadership and sustainable development by balancing environmental, social, and economic factors in business planning and decision-making processes. This Environmental Policy document directly supports the related Canal Maintenance Services contract opportunity for Miami International Airport (MIA), Miami-Opa Locka Executive Airport (OPF), Miami-Executive Airport (TMB), and Miami-Homestead General Aviation Airports (X51), as the maintenance of drainage canals through vegetation and debris removal aligns with the agency's environmental protection and pollution prevention objectives. The policy establishes the operational framework within which all contracted services, including canal maintenance, must be conducted to ensure compliance with MDAD's environmental management system and sustainability goals.
