About this file
This file is a detailed technical specification (Section 096723) for resinous flooring, specifically for a federal contract opportunity (Solicitation 12639525Q0164) involving epoxy floor coating repair at the USDA National Centers for Animal Health in Ames, Iowa. The specification requires a polyurea-polyurethane coating system with specific characteristics: 30 mil minimum thickness, pewter color, 90 grit traction material, and a 6-inch integral cove base. The project involves refinishing approximately 1,016 square feet of flooring with 202 linear feet of cove base in Building 520, a modular animal research building constructed in 2008.
Key technical requirements include using Stonhard, Inc. products (Stonchem 441, Stonclad GS, and Stonkote HT4), maintaining substrate temperatures between 65-85 degrees F during application, and ensuring the flooring system resists cracking, provides good traction when wet, and is easy to clean. The contract is classified under NAICS code 238330 for Flooring Contractors, with a small business size standard of $19 million, and has an estimated project value between $25,000 and $100,000. The manufacturer must provide a three-year warranty covering both materials and workmanship, and installers must be certified by the manufacturer with experience in similar projects.
