Attachment 1, 12639525Q0164 Amendment 0001
Statement of Work (SOW) Project: Building 520 Floor Coating Repair
USDA, National Centers for Animal Health, 1920 Dayton Avenue, Ames, IA 50010
GENERAL INFORMATION
1.0 Background: The USDA, NCAH building 520 located at 1920 Dayton Avenue, Ames, IA is a modular animal research building constructed by Artsway Scientific in 2008 with a 17-year-old epoxy floor coating system that has cracked and deteriorated. This floor needs a new coating. The new floor coating must resist cracking from any structural movement in order to maintain integrity while being easy to clean. The floor coating must also have good traction when wet to prevent caretakers from falling.
2.0 Scope of Work: The work includes removing six-inch epoxy integral base and epoxy floor coating from the existing subfloor. The existing fiberglass mat sealed in resin over ¾” plywood is to remain. New ¾” tongue and grove plywood shall be installed over the existing subfloor fastened with construction adhesive and screws. Troweled 100% solids epoxy mortar shall be used to form new 8” integral cove base. The new subfloor and 8” cove base shall be coated with a minimum of 30 mils of polyurea-polyurethane hybrid coating system with 90 grit texture 12 white aluminum oxide mixed into a suspension with the Pewter colored topcoat and applied in the areas designated on attached drawing A-2.0.
Provide and install any necessary transition strips at the door openings or floor drain assemblies as required.
The total area is approximately 1016 square feet, with approximately 202 linear feet of new 8” integral cove base. No gaps or voids shall be present between the new cove base and the wall. Attached are drawings G-001, A-2.0 and Photos 1- 6 with building 520 location, construction route and room details. Per the attached drawing room 105 and 106 will need the existing epoxy floor and cove base coating removed. Rooms 107 and 108 have most of the epoxy floor coating removed with an existing epoxy paint coating but the existing 6” cove base will need to be removed.
CONTRACTOR REQUIREMENTS
3.0 Technical Requirements/Tasks: The contractor is responsible for all labor, material, disposal and equipment to complete the work. The work required to install the new polyurea-polyurethane hybrid coating includes:
1. The length of the contract will be 180 days after award of contract and the work must be completed within 30 days once the rooms are made available.
2. Submit product data sheets for Stonhard STONCLAD GS, STONCHEM 441, STONKOTE HT4 product and Safety Data Sheets for Flooring System – Color = Pewter (medium gray) with 90 grit texture 12 white aluminum oxide mixed into a suspension with the Pewter (medium gray) colored STONKOTE HT4 topcoat or an approved equivalent flooring system with characteristics that closely meet or exceed the characteristics of the Stonhard product. Black aluminum oxide is not acceptable as a traction material.
3. Provide schedule for the work no later than 10 days after the award of the Contract.
