INTRODUCTION
This Method of Procedure (MOP) is developed to facilitate the construction activities for the DISA Building 308 Mechanical Upgrades Project. The purpose of this MOP is to Remove HV 10 and all associated ducts & piping for building 308. Under normal operating conditions building 308 will remain operational always. The removal of HV 10 & all associated duct & piping are one phase of mechanical repairs & upgrades for building 308. At no point during this work will there be any interruption to the mechanical systems for building 308. HV 10 is currently off-line.
This MOP is a living document; As such, the participants should be cognizant of the revision letter and date to insure they are referencing the most current version.
The following pages detail the step-by-step procedures for:
1. Removal of HV-10 in Mechanical Room 1st floor.

3 Pre-MOP Meeting & Mobilize to Start HV-10 Removal
a. Coordinate safety plan and area protection with Joe and
Mike. Site visit will take place prior to any work being conducted.
b. Verify materials pathway into mechanical room with Joe and Mike. Intended route –All tools and materials will travel from the roll up door at mechanical room to the HV-10 location just inside the door.
c. Pre-Job brief / preparatory with CJW, BBEC, SPEC and HBM foreman.
d. Set-up safety barriers around work area. We will use cones with signage at the ends of each isle on both sides of the existing cubicles.
e. Set-up work area, (Tools / Necessary Equipment). All tools will be set up in mechanical room and CJW temp spaces.
f. CJW Superintendent and SSHO will verify Task 3 is complete before Task 4 will begin.
4 Isolate (LOTO - Clearance) HV-10
a. The unit is currently locked out by DISA. CJW will take possession of the unit. We will energize the MCC bucket to the disconnect at HV-10. Verify power to that disconnect.
b. The MCC will then be locked out. All personnel will walk the LOTO clearance down with the SSHO and hang individual locks.
The SSHO locks will remain on the system until all personnel are
MOP 001 Page 3 clear from all clearances.

a. LOTO HV-10 Coil Heater Verify motor breaker -MCC-4 Bucket 3A – is isolated, locked and tested. Isolation location – Mechanical Room MCC-4
LOTO TAG # - ______________.
b. LOTO TAG # - ______________. (AS-NEEDED)
c. MCC-2 will need to be de-energized for a short period at DISA convenience to remove all wire, conduit, and inspect the bucket for 100% demolition.
5 Removal / Demolition of HV-10
a. No Hot Work is anticipated at this time. All demo to be done with non-spark generating tools. If the need would arise the crew will stop until hot work can be approved by Fire Dept. A fire extinguisher will be in the mechanical room for this operation.

b. Remove duct from the unit on both supply and return for just enough room to allow for demolition of HV-10. Procedure to remove –Power sheet metal shears will be used to cut the duct at the exposure location. The duct will be unscrewed from the HV and lowered by hand or with chain falls as needed. The remaining duct will be capped with sheet metal caps and secured with sheet metal screws. Holes in floor to be patched with concrete.
c. Remove electrical disconnect and all wire back to the source at MCC-2 / Bucket 3D & MCC-4 Bucket 3A. The wire in the MCC wire chase will be cut and capped until a later date where the entire MCC can be shutdown to remove the remaining wire stub from the bucket. The remaining conduit will be removed to the source.
d. Remove associated low voltage controls back to nearest control panel. Any conduits to be removed to source.
e. Remove the body of the air handler and fan coil. The unit will be taken apart and brought down by hand on the pad. Small parts can be removed by hand and handed down to personnel on the ground.
