The addendum, dated October 10, 2024, provides revisions to several sections of the contract documents, including Supplementary Conditions, Payment Procedures, Dewatering, Fences, and the Unit Price Bid Schedule. Key updates include specifications for water control during construction, riprap placement, wayfinding and educational signage, and clarifications on project details. The bid timeline remains unchanged, with bid submissions due on October 18, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. MST/MDT, and bid publishing scheduled for October 22, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. on Bidnet.

The addendum includes a comprehensive Unit Price Bid Schedule with 32 line items covering various aspects of the project, such as clearing and grubbing, water control, excavation, riprap placement, fence installation, and erosion control. Notable requirements include the use of Type M riprap, sandstone steps, cedar wood signage, and specific installation guidelines for wayfinding signs. The contractor will be responsible for water control, sediment barriers, and multiple mobilizations as needed. The project involves shoreline stabilization with the goal of reducing phosphorus and contaminant discharge into the Cherry Creek Reservoir, with specific attention to environmental protection measures and site restoration.

C. Questions/Responses

1. On Sheet C3 there is a note at Station 40+54 that states End Staircase A. The graphics do not show the staircase ending at that station. The Profile shows it ending it at 40+43.90. Are we extending the staircase to station 40+54 which appears to be in the water?

The note at station 40+54 is to indicate the end of the alignment for construction staking purposes. The end of “Staircase A” will be constructed as planned, in the profile view, ending at station 40+43.90.

(3)

2. Sheet D2- Riprap edge detail calls for type M which has an average size of 12”. The note states 12” depth with riprap between 4”-8”. Is the size 4”-8” the size of the riprap and if so, can we use type VL which is closer to that size?

The Type M riprap has an average size of 12”, but the note states the riprap shall be uniformly graded to increase the distribution to lean heavily towards only 12” rocks. 4”-8” is to indicate the depth of embedment of the riprap. Please use Type M Riprap.

3. Is the shaded riprap soil loaded VH? It is hard to tell by the key and it is not noted on the plans.

The shaded riprap is specified in the Joint Planting detail (sheet D-3) and indicated to be Type H Soil

Riprap.

4. Is the excavation for the rip rap paid for under unclassified ex, and will that item be paid as a unit price or lump sum?

The excavation required for all rock was included as unclassified excavation and is paid for as CY.

5. What scope of work is the 10cy Subgrade Prep for?

This is for the compaction work required for the subgrade beneath crusher fines as called out in sheets D-

1 through D-3.

6. In the addendum it was stated the boulders are MHFD specs. The steps are still sandstone, correct?

The detail on sheet L4.2 does indicate a sandstone base slab; the detail has been revised in Addendum #2 to clearly show all steps as sandstone material.

7. Detail shows a two-tier wall. I could not find a two-tier wall on the plans. Is the intent that the LF bid item two tiers of 24” boulders?

The number of tiers of boulders theoretically will be dictated by the top of wall and bottom of wall elevations relative to boulder size, however, it was simply assumed that two tiers would be used in all instances to be more structurally sound and help prevent undercutting. The LF of boulder bulkhead represents two tiers of boulders.

8. Specifications calls for an office for the client and contractor, just want to verify that this is needed in the bid.

An office will not be required.

9. The specs call for traffic control plan and installation. Is this for vehicular as well. Ther is a bid item for pedestrian control but not vehicle control. Where should we put that cost?

A Traffic control plan for vehicles is not required, however the contractor shall insure safe entry and exit from the work area. It is anticipated that the East Shade Shelter parking lot will be closed for the duration of construction.

10. What type of rock is the fieldstone.

Detail on sheet D-2 calls out fieldstone to be Type L Riprap.

11. The fieldstone is within the water, since there is not a dewatering bid item, where should we put that cost?

Contractor shall use water control/sediment barrier for the work area during placement of the riprap. This has been included as a lump sum bid item in the bid tab; methods shall be determined by the contractor and discussed prior to construction. See revisions to Section 01 29 00 payment procedures for this work in this Addendum #2.

12. The addendum states that there is a Bid Intent Deadline. Is there a special form and are you wanting an email stating we are bidding it?

Bid intent needs to be submitted on Bidnet.

13. Are Holcim Boulders allowed?

Holcim Boulders are allowed if they meet the MHFD specifications for Boulders.

14. Are the wayfinding and education signs to be provided by others?

No, the signs will need to be acquired by the contractor and installed. Prior to finalizing signage, a proof should be provided for review. See revision to Section 01 29 00 payment procedures within this

Addendum #2.
