About this file

This Addendum #1, issued March 10, 2026, by Chippewa Valley Schools in Clinton Township, Michigan, amends RFP 21.2526B for a Barracuda Email Security and Backup Solution. The amendment addresses bidder questions and clarifies requirements for email security services, cloud email archiving, and backup solutions for virtual and physical servers. The school district operates one domain using global rules and currently maintains an on-premise Barracuda Message Archiver 850. Awarded bidders will be responsible for migrating all current archive data to the cloud email archive solution. The district uses VMware as its hypervisor with plans to transition to Nutanix in the near future and does not intend to migrate servers to the cloud; backup solutions should focus on on-premise server recovery capabilities.

Key clarifications include that W9 and Tax ID documents are not required with the proposal submission but must be provided if the contract is awarded. The backup solution must allow granular recovery of both email and associated data. The district currently uses DMARCLY for email authentication and, while open to vendor proposals, has no plans to discontinue this service. Granular recovery of email was clarified to fall under the email security solution section rather than the separate backup solution section. Bidders must acknowledge receipt of this addendum by indicating the Addendum Number and Date on the Bid Proposal Form, page 16.

Barracuda Email Security and Backup Solution

RFP 21.2526B

Addendum #1 – March 10, 2026

Addendum #1 is being issued to amend the RFP document and respond to Bidders’ questions.

1. W9 & Tax ID These documents do not need to be included with the bid proposal, however, if awarded the contract, they will need to be provided. Page 14 of the RFP lists these as required documents, but they may be excluded from your proposal.

2. How many users are on the email archiver appliance at this time?

The archiver is not licensed by any user. We currently use an on-premise Barracuda Message Archiver 850.

3. Would we be required to move all archives to the cloud email archive?

Yes, the awarded bidder will be responsible for migrating all current data to the cloud archive.

4. How many domains are in the EGD?

One domain.

5. Are you using domain specific rules or global rules?

Global rules.

6. Barracuda Premium Plus comes with data inspector. Have you determined the parameters for looking for CUI and PII?

No.

7. What are you backing up with the Barracuda backup appliance?

Virtual and physical servers.

8. Page 9 in reference to Backup Solution: “Allow granular recovery of email and associated data”

– should this be under the M365 cloud backup included with Premium Plus?

Yes, you are correct. Granular recovery of email should be listed under the email security solution section. The backup solution should allow for granular recovery of data.

ADDENDUM #1 | 3/10/26

9. Barracuda has specific requirements for BCDR. Can you tell us which hypervisor you are using for on premise servers? For cloud BCDR, we would need to know the resources required of each server that you want to spin up in the cloud. Is cloud BCDR required? Is there a specific RTO you are trying to meet?

We currently use VMWare as our hypervisor but are likely moving to Nutanix in the near future.

Servers are hosted on prem. We do not plan on moving servers to the cloud. These servers are what we’re backing up with the backup solution in this bid.

10. Will you continue to use DMARCLY?

We do not have plans to move away from DMARCLY, but we are open to proposals. Vendors are welcome to include voluntary alternates as part of their bid.

All other information shall remain the same. Bidder shall acknowledge receipt of this by indicating the Addendum Number and Date on the Bid Proposal Form in the section titled “Addendum” on page 16.
