Pricing Executive Summary
Election Systems & Software • State of Ohio – ITB ACQ1048 Electronic Pollbooks
ES&S Approach to Pricing At ES&S, our commitment to transparency starts with our response to your ITB, including the cost proposal.
ES&S structures our pricing response to be clear and concise. We itemize the costs so you understand exactly what is included in our proposal. Our pricing responses are organized to illustrate each element of a proposed solution, including but not limited to hardware, software, election services and total purchase price.
When reviewing all pricing responses to your ITB, we encourage you to compare apples to apples. Consider the following questions when comparing pricing responses:
What is not included with the total cost that will be needed to run the equipment? Does the hardware cost include necessary items like batteries, cases and peripheral items for voters?
What ongoing services do you need? Is that included in the price proposal? Does the pricing sheet include all the items you asked for?
How long will the product last?
Comparing Pricing Responses To help with your review, the table below provides a view of a few items from this bid. It provides details about what is provided in the ES&S response and a space for notes from other bid responses.

SITE REQUIREMENTS
ExpressPoll When operational, the ExpressPoll uses approximately two (2) square feet. When stored individually, the ExpressPoll requires approximately 2.5 cubic feet. And when stacked up to five (5) cases high, the space requirement is approximately 12 cubic feet.
Once powered down, the stand is disconnected from power and stored in the custom carrying case, along with any other peripherals or accessories.
Disaster recovery / backup information
ES&S RESPONSE
To help ensure a voter cannot vote multiple times, data is constantly synchronized between pollbooks in a polling location in real time with a backup reconciliation process running every 15 seconds in the event of an interruption. Likewise, in a connected state, pollbooks communicate transactions directly to the host and download all new transactions in near-real time. The ExpressPoll electronic pollbook allows for voter-facing screens to be customized based on the jurisdiction’s language requirements (including English and Spanish).
The ExpressPoll includes an internal battery that charges automatically when connected to power. In the event of a disruption in power, the battery will provide up to four (4) hours of backup power to the tablet.
