Per Q&A #30 response for the excavation of the MSE walls: “In accordance with Subsection

255.03 of FP14, perform the work according to Section 209. See Subsection 109.05 for Scope of Payment.” Section 109.05.a.1 states the work must be “measured” to be paid directly under a pay item listed in the bid schedule. Section 209 of the FP states “Do not measure structural excavation and backfill for payment”. Section 109.05.a.2 states, “The Measurement Subsection of the Section ordering the work, references another Section for measuring the work and the bid schedule contains a pay item for the work from the referenced Section” and therefore shouldn’t apply. Therefore, is the intent to pay for MSE wall excavation under MSE Pay Item 25501‐1000 per Section 109.05.b?

There is no direct payment for the structure excavation needed to construct MSE Walls.

See Subsection 109.05 and bid accordingly.

1/3/2020

39 X Please clarify if the excavation for Rip Rap shall be paid under Structural Excavation or the Rip Rap pay items.

In accordance with Subsection 251.03, structure excavation for riprap is covered under Section 209.
