About this file
This is a heat protection safety requirement guidance document for Harris County Precinct 4, Texas, related to the Landscape Architecture Development for the ForUsTree Planting Plan (Phase 1) project. The document establishes mandatory safety provisions that all contractors and vendors must incorporate into their project Safety Plan to protect workers from weather-related hazards, including extreme heat, cold, and other adverse weather conditions. The guidance requires Prime Contractors to include provisions for preventing heat-related and cold-related illnesses among workers throughout project execution. When temperatures or heat index values exceed 90 degrees Fahrenheit, contractors must develop and implement a project-specific Heat Awareness Plan that includes acclimatization measures, water provision, rest periods, and adequate shade for workers. During extended periods of adverse weather conditions, Prime Contractors are required to provide appropriate accommodations as necessary to ensure worker safety.
By submitting a bid and signing the Bid Acknowledgement, vendors and contractors explicitly agree to comply with all heat protection safety requirements outlined in this guidance. This requirement is non-negotiable and applies to all aspects of worker safety management during the execution of landscape architecture and tree planting work under this contract. Vendors must demonstrate their understanding and commitment to these safety standards at the time of bid submission to be considered for award.
