About this file

This document is an Addendum to a Request for Quotation (RFQ) issued by Argonne National Laboratory for a Groundwater Extraction and Treatment Unit. The addendum addresses four specific questions from potential bidders regarding technical specifications, including materials of construction, pump requirements, well vault components, and pump installation depths. Key technical clarifications include: marine grade aluminum is not acceptable for the air stripper system (which requires UV-protected HDPE trays), a sequestrant pump capable of dosing up to 10 mg/L is needed, and well vault components are to be provided by the RA Contractor.

The associated federal contract opportunity is solicitation number 5-B176-Q-00412-00, managed by the Department of Energy Office of Science. Argonne National Laboratory is seeking quotations for a Groundwater Treatment Plant (GTP) system, related components, and a GTP building to be located in Agra, Kansas. Bidders must submit completed responses by 12:00 PM CDT on April 18, 2025, and are required to review the "Instructions for Bidders" dated April 1, 2025. All documentation must be submitted according to the specifications outlined in the Statement of Work and Technical Specifications, with potential exclusion from consideration for incomplete submissions.

04/15/2025 This addendum is being issued to modify the subject as follows:

Include responses from questions as follows:

1. Would marine grade aluminum be acceptable as the MOC for this unit?

a. The OEM is to supply an air stripper system that meets the requirements of Specification 44 42 13. The data sheet provided in the specification indicates that the tray material is to be UV-protected HDPE. Therefore, marine grade aluminum would not be acceptable.

2. Do you have a design flowrate and pressure for the sequestrant dosing pump? Do you have a particular size as well for the empty tank we will be supplying for the sequestrant?

a. At this time, Argonne cannot designate a design flow rate or pressure for the sequestrant pump; as noted in Spec 13-34-19, these are to be determined, as needed, as part of system startup testing. A sequestrant pump that can provide a dosage rate of up to 10 mg/L as required in Specification 13 34 19 is requested, at an anticipated (combined) flow rate from the GWEX wells of < 10 gpm, together with an appropriately sized tank for supplying the required dosage rate under these conditions.

3. On the well pumps section besides the pumps, support cable, power wiring, down well hose and pressure transmitters are you wanting us to supply the other parts related to the well vault?

a. The well vaults and other related components not identified in the SOW and associated Technical Specifications for this RFP are to be provided by the RA Contractor.

4. Wondering if you had specific depths for the down well pumps for the related hosing and support cable/wiring. [There was] a length for the down well level sensor cables which seemed to be too long for the well depths […] couldn’t find any depths for the pumps themselves.

a. The well depths are indicated in Design Drawing C-03, Detail A; GWEX2, 3, and 5 are all 63ft deep (BGS). Pumps are to be installed with the top of the intake at ~54ft BGS.
