About this file

File Summary

This file comprises design intent drawings and specifications for the City of Owensboro, Kentucky's pedestrian wayfinding signage project, prepared by Bacon Farmer Workman Engineering & Testing, Inc. The project includes the construction of three digital informational kiosks and eleven pole-mounted wayfinding signs throughout downtown Owensboro. The three kiosks are to be located at Smothers Park, the Convention Center, and the Daviess Street Parking Garage, each featuring a 65-inch exterior LCD digital display with 4K resolution and 3000-nit brightness. The eleven pole-mounted signs are positioned at various intersections along 2nd through 5th Streets. The sign contractor is responsible for all design, fabrication, installation, engineering, and structural certification, with shop drawings requiring approval from the designer prior to fabrication. All work must comply with Americans with Disabilities Act Accessibility Guidelines, local and state regulations, and the current Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices standards. The contractor must obtain all necessary permits and field inspection approvals and coordinate with the City of Owensboro Engineering Department and utility locating services before beginning work.

The project specifications require materials including 1/8" extruded aluminum alloy 6063 panels with UV-resistant digital printing, 3M Scotchcal vinyl films in specified colors from a defined palette, and gloss exterior metal polyester powdercoat finishes in various colors. The color palette includes light gray, dark gray, white, gloss black, dark blue, light blue, light blue-green, and green finishes. All vinyl, powdercoated, and painted surfaces must receive compatible anti-graffiti and UV clear coat protection. The sign contractor must design and engineer all support structures, anchors, concrete footings, and mounting brackets, with a licensed Kentucky engineer certifying compliance with structural and safety standards. Electrical service must be provided to each kiosk via buried conduit in accordance with local and national electrical codes. The drawings are dated March 17, 2023, and are explicitly marked as design intent only, not for construction purposes, with the contractor bearing full responsibility for final material selection, fabrication methods, and installation verification.
