RFI Questions 585-18-118 Upgrade Entrances

RFI # RFI - Description REQUESTED BY Status/Comments 034 Would the VA accept keeping the existing louvers or replacing with new louvers vs putting in the screening for the mini dormers on the roof? On the 406 job screening was called out, but then it was decided to leave the louvers.

US Vet General Contracting Existing louvers can & should remain.

038 Insect screens – are the louvers that are to be removed and replaced with the insect screens required? past projects these were de‐scoped.

RHI LLC See #34 response. ‐ Existing louvers can & should remain.

045 Spec indicates that "The General Contractor of this project shall directly hire the Control System Integrator in a contract separate from the contract procuring the Controls Contractor administered by Section 23 09 23 of the technical specifications." Is this integrator also the installing contractor for the HVAC controls?

Progressive Construction Services LLC Not necessarily. This depends on the subcontracted controls contractor.

050 Section 1.6, Guaranty Period Services, as part of the overall specification for Fire Detection & Alarm ‐ 28 31 00 on this project. In short this section is requiring the bidder to carry/include all inspection, testing, maintenance, normal emergency call back services, and overtime emergency services from years two through five after the date of substantial completion.

Is this section specific to the scope of work on this individual project, or the building fire alarm system as a whole?

If possible can you clarify the intent of this section prior to bidding?

US Vet General Contracting The installation for this project, drawing FA‐101. PCG

Section 25 13 00 states that the existing BAS is a “Tridium BAS.” The existing system is a Johnson Controls Metasys system installed by Johnson Controls Inc. Please confirm that the desire on this project is to use the existing system stated here.

Johnson Controls Tridium is not used at the Tomah VA Medical Center.

Connection to the existing BAS is required. Completely remove specification section 25 13 00, BUILDING AUTOMATION SYSTEM (BAS) INTERGRATION from the project. PCG

052 In the responsibility table found in 25 13 00 the only work given to 25 13 00 is for “LAN conduits and raceway" And for “VFDs Monitoring & Trending" is the 25 13 00 spec needed for this project or can it be eliminated? It appears this might be from another project.

Additionally this matrix seems to contradict the one found in 23 09 23.

Johnson Controls Completely remove specification section 25 13 00, BUILDING AUTOMATION SYSTEM (BAS) INTERGRATION from the project. PCG

053 In the past it has been confirmed that the “Control System Integrator” is the same as the “Section 23 09 23 Contractor.” Please confirm this is desired on this project.

Johnson Controls Completely remove specification section 25 13 00, BUILDING AUTOMATION SYSTEM (BAS) INTERGRATION from the project. PCG

054 Per discussions with the local VA providing a “portable operator’s terminal” is not able to be used since computers need to be provided through the VA’s IT department.

Is a “portable operator’s terminal” Needed for this project?

Johnson Controls A "PORTABLE OPERATOR'S TERMINAL" is not required for this project. PCG
