ADDITONAL QUESTIONS/ANSWERS

Question 1. What specific ductwork on the drawings is required to be 20ga with angle frame companion flanges as there is big difference in cost of this ductwork versus SMACNA standard ductwork?

Answer: The isolation room temporary ductwork between the HEPA filter and fan per sheet MD106NT.

Question 2. What is the HEPA filter sizing schedule shown on M601’s purpose as I cannot find any HEPA filters on this job other than the CD-5’s listed in the air device schedule?

Answer: Refer to sheet MD106NT. HEPA filters are required for the isolation room temporary ductwork.

Question 3. Note 23 on MH106N calls for all the existing outside air ductwork to be Aero sealed once all the phases are complete. Aero seal is completed by blanking off the ends of all ductwork being sealed and blowing sealer through the ductwork to fill the voids. The only way this could be completed would require every FCU/VAV fed with outside air to be capped off. This would mean a great majority of the floor would need the duct disconnected, capped and Aero sealed. This would leave the great majority of these rooms with no outside air until complete. Due to this job being done in phases in order to maintain hospital beds this does not seam feasible. Aero sealing the duct as the phases are completed will not work either because after you would get a phase done you would then connect it back to the duct. You would not be able to disconnect & cap the duct for the next phase without cutting off the air to the now occupied area. I don’t see how it is feasible to Aero seal this ductwork please advise if just duct sealing the outside of the existing duct where accessible is going to be acceptable.

Answer: Just sealing the outside of the ductwork is not acceptable. Lockable position Blastgate dampers shall be installed, in lieu of typical manual balancing dampers, during each construction phase. The initial Blastgate damper balancing positions shall be marked so dampers can be returned to initial positions after AeroSeal. AeroSeal process shall take place over a weekend and all Blastgate dampers shall be fully closed during the process. AeroSeal shall take place prior to the project completion rebalancing as required per the General Notes.

Question 4. Does phase 1A need to be complete before phase 1B can begin and so on for phase 1C & 1D?

Answer: Yes, all phases have to be complete prior to beginning next phase. And phases shall take place in order.
