QUESTIONS/ANSWERS

Question 1. Have durations been established for each construction phase?

Answer: No, only total project duration has been established.

Question 2. Can bids be emailed, or hand delivered or either?

Answer: Bids may only be submitted by electronic email, common courier and United States Postal Service for this solicitation due to the recent Stay-at-Home announcement by the Ohio Governor. A formal in-person bid opening will not take place. Bids are due by 1:00 pm EST, April 17, 2020. A Bid Abstract will be drafted and provided to any vendor who requests a copy. A conference line has been set up for bidders who would like to listen in during the "bid opening". Please call 1 (800) 767-1750 between 12:55pm and 1:00pm EST on April 17, 2020 and enter access code 30374# to be connected. An original Bid bond must be submitted prior to bid opening.

Question 3. Does each phase need to be completed before the subsequent phases? Specifically does the new bed tower addition need to be completed before the phase 2 can start?

Answer: Yes, each phase must be completed for a subsequent phase can begin. The new bed tower construction must be completed before Phase 2 can begin.

Question 4. How was the estimate of 100 sqft of duct sealant estimated for abatement? How accurate is this estimate?

Answer: Terracon estimated a quantity of mastic containing asbestos at seams, not a surface quantity of metal ductwork. Note that this is 100 SF of duct mastic, not 100 SF of ductwork. It is assumed that all duct work being removed under this project has asbestos mastic, therefore, all hard ductwork being removed on this project would need to be removed by the abatement contractor. Contractor to review the mechanical demo drawings to determine total number of SF of duct work that must be removed by the abatement contractor.

Question 5. Are bids due on 27th or the 31st?

Answer: Bid opening has been extended to April 17, 2020 @ 1:00 PM EST (see question 2 for more details).

Question 6. The specifications for the Cubicles Curtains (spec. section 102123), do not call for a specific manufacturer for the track nor list a curtain fabric. Can you provide a manufacturer and product selection for the cubicle curtains and tracks?

Answer: See Addendum 1: Contractor may use Imperial Fastener Company Track #IFC-98 with nylon rollers, Inpro Optitrac or equivalent products.

Question 7. 1-On Spec section 233100-4 it states for exhaust duct up to 3” static between HEPA filters and exhaust fan inlet including systems for autopsy suite exhaust. The rectangular is a minimum 20ga galvanized with angle ring companion flanges. I also see there is a HEPA filter schedule on the M601 drawing. However, I cannot find these HEPA filters on the drawings to determine Where these HEPA filters are required and what ductwork is affected by them. Where it also states the autopsy suite exhaust. What ductwork is this?

Answer: Please refer to drawing MD106NT. The drawings show at the Isolation Room temporary exhaust fan inlets on the sheet. Or, the HEPA filtered ceiling diffusers on sheet MH106N.

Question 8. Other than the quench duct and kitchen exhaust. Is the remainder of ductwork to be galvanized per SMACNA standards and the listed static on drawing M601? As there is no duct fabrication material schedule.

Answer: Per 23 31 00 (2.1), “Except for systems specified otherwise, construct ducts, casings, and accessories of galvanized sheet steel, ASTM A653, coating G90; or, aluminum sheet, ASTM B209, alloy 1100, 3003 or 5052.

Question 9. For the 20ga companion flange ductwork question listed in question 1. Would transverse duct connections be acceptable?

Answer: No.

Question 10. To what extent is duct cleaning required? Just to the extent of ductwork shown on the contract documents? Just existing duct not new?

Answer: Just existing as required on the contract documents. AeroSeal will likely require all ductwork being sealed also be cleaned.

Question 11. Will crane lifts need to be scheduled after hours and weekends?

Answer: See Addendum 1: Crane lifts to be scheduled on evening and weekend hours. Coordinate times with COR Question 12. Is removal and install of ductwork to be done during normal business hours?

Answer: If ductwork being removed and reinstalled affects areas outside of current construction phase, it will need to be done outside normal business hours.

Question 13.Elevations on the architectural drawings are all over the place. Please provide elevation from Level 00 to Level 10 that make sense.
Answer: See Addendum 1. Floor elevations have been corrected.
Question 14.Lighting drawings EL106N and EL106S show the patient room lighting as being typical by room type. On sheet E401, the typical patient room lighting plans are shown. However, typical type "C" room lighting isn't shown. Can you clarify if we are to provide new lighting for typical type "C" rooms? If so, can you provide a detail showing fixture types and locations?

Answer: See Addendum 1. Lights are to be similar to the patient room type. See revised drawings in Addendum.
