596A4-18-102 Replacement Elevators
QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
1. Are there any known changes to the bid documents for Solicitation No. 36C24923R0021 in lieu of the bid documents incorporated in previous Solicitation No. 36C24922R0057?
Answer – Please review changes to the Evaluation Factors.
2. There is nothing on the electrical drawings or in the electrical specifications referring to shunt trip breakers. These are mentioned very briefly in the elevator specifications;
however, no other info was provided. If they are in fact required which CSI Division is responsible for them and where is the 120V circuit being fed from?
Answer – See Attached Documentation
3. Note L on Sheet GI002 says contractor is responsible for all service calls for elevators during the duration of the contract. Does this mean the contractor is responsible for servicing each existing elevator before they have been upgraded, or only after each elevator has been upgraded?
Answer - Contractor is responsible for elevator maintenance, repair, and service starting at mobilization and concluding at the expiration of the 1-year warranty period after completion.
4. Car Ceiling Plan on sheet A-201 states “Coordinate future security camera location with VA
COR and safety for rough-in cabling.” Is the contractor to provide conduit, connectors, or any associated materials for rough-in of security camera cabling?
Answer - Elevator specifications call for all wiring from machine room to elevator cab to be provided and installed by the elevator contractor. Elevator contractor to rough-in box on top of elevator cab and pull wiring to box in machine room.
5. Do the hoist way doors get replaced or refinished?
Answer – Per specifications, provide new stainless steel hoist way doors.
6. Do the hoist way frames get replaced or refinished?
Answer – Per specification, refinish existing stainless-steel entrance frames.
7. Do the elevator doors get replaced or refinished?
Answer - Per specifications, provide new stainless steel hoist way doors. All elevator doors get replaced with stainless steel #4 finish doors.
8. Note #3 sheet FA101 says to run new cable for telephones from each elevator to the nearest
IT closet. Where is the nearest IT closet?
Answer – A627 see attached drawing.

Answer - Shunt trip breakers are required. They should be fed from Panel PH-1, breaker
#4 in elevator machine room. Spec section 26 24 16 covers it. Applicable excerpt to be provided by A/E.
