About this file

This document is a response to a Request for Information regarding a sink specification in construction documents for a Department of Veterans Affairs project. The project involves improvements to patient privacy at the Hunter Holmes McGuire VA Medical Center in Richmond, Virginia.

The response clarifies that no specific sink model is required, and the general contractor can provide any sink that meets the contract specifications. A plumbing fixture product data submission must be approved by the VA. For guidance, the response states that sinks used in an earlier 4C Phase I project of the same facility would be approved and accepted. An image of those previously installed sinks is attached.

The related federal contract opportunity provides additional context as a construction solicitation from the VA for the Improve Patient Privacy 4C Phase 2 project at the specified medical center.

Good afternoon, The sink in the patient rooms are calling out an integral Cameo White solid surface sink, per page AS-13

SSM2. The plumbing sheet PL-02 does not list the model number or reference a solid surface sink. I do not see a model number called out in the plumbing specs. Please clarify which sink is to be used in the patient room top.

The VA does not require a specific sink model. The GC can provide any sink that meets the specifications of this contract.
