About this file
This is an amendment to a previous combined solicitation addressing contractor responsibilities for mechanical and electrical installation of a rental chiller unit. The Department of Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration, Veterans Integrated Service Network 1 (Northampton VA Medical Center) issued solicitation 36C24126Q0396 on behalf of the White River Junction VA Medical Center for one 150-ton air-cooled rental chiller. The solicitation is set-aside for Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Businesses (SDVOSB) and uses NAICS code 238220 with a small business size standard of $16.5 million. The FSC/PSC code is J041. Delivery must be made to 215 N Main Street, White River Junction, VT 05001-0001 no later than 15 days after receipt of order, with FOB destination terms. The period of performance runs from April 27, 2026 through October 27, 2026. Response deadline is April 13, 2026 at 4:00 PM Eastern Time.
The amendment clarifies that contractors must include mechanical lines to connect the chiller to building taps and be capable of self-connection. For electrical work, contractors should provide wiring up to the panel and coordinate with the VA's electricians for final tie-in, with one option being the contractor providing a connector that the VA's electricians wire into the disconnect switch with the chiller plugging into the connector. Four photographs of the installation location are attached to this amendment to provide visual reference for prospective contractors. DESCRIPTION
This amendment is to answer the following question:
Question: Will we need to include mechanical and electrical tie in/install in our quote?
Answer: The contractor should include the lines to connect the chiller to the building taps, and be able to connect themselves. As for the electrical, I’m not quite as familiar with the standard, but I believe they should provide the wiring up to the panel, and then work with our electricians to tie in. One gentleman I spoke with said they would provide a connector that our electricians could wire into the disconnect, and the chiller just plugs into said connector.
Contract Specialist has attached four photos of where the rental chiller would be.
