About this file
This is a Scope of Work specification document for selective demolition of electrical systems as part of Project 25-388, the CBI HVAC and Lighting Upgrade. The specification details the removal and disposal of existing electrical installations, equipment, and materials to accommodate new construction. The work includes disconnection and removal of abandoned wiring, conduit, outlets, panelboards, distribution equipment, and luminaires, as well as relocation and extension of existing installations to support new systems. The specification requires compatibility with existing electrical installations and mandates proper handling of hazardous materials regulated under the Federal Toxic Substances Control Act, specifically PCB-containing equipment, DEHP-containing ballasts, and mercury-containing lamps. Critical execution requirements include verification of field measurements and circuiting arrangements, coordination with the Owner and Architect regarding any discrepancies, and coordination of utility service outages with the utility company.
The specification emphasizes minimal service disruption and continuity of operations during demolition activities. Contractors must maintain existing electrical, fire alarm, and telephone systems in service until new systems are operational, obtaining Owner permission at least 24 hours before any system disablement. Temporary wiring and connections must be provided to preserve service in adjacent work areas. The specification requires repair of any adjacent construction and finishes damaged during demolition and extension work, as well as maintenance of access to active electrical installations. No pricing, bid dates, award information, or contract term details are provided in this scope of work specification document.
